Rubbermaid Duralite: kinda, sorta CorningWare

Rather audacious claim on the home page.  Can't use it on a gas or electric burner.  Can't take heat hotter than 550 degrees F.  Can't broil for more than 10 minutes.

Interesting but

The radiant heat from a broiler element is far hotter than 550° so I really question whether this is good under the broiler.

It would be interesting to put a piece under a red hot broiler and try to actually broil some food in and see what the edges of the dish look like afterwards.

It’s interesting there a little chart compared it to everything but Corningware lol

I think they're comparing it to regular ceramic cookware, not Corningware's pyroceram which is a thing unto itself.

All the claims seem to claim that it’s better than most other cookware, the only thing they don’t compare it to is corning ware.

Corningware is a much more heat and thermal shock resistant ceramic which is why it can be used straight from frozen and put directly onto any cooktop, whereas for example, Cornings French White products which look very similar cannot. Most of the fancy ceramic cookware you see flogged on the shopping channels, and for sale in dept and discount stores also have their limits.

Seems a little like Corelle, which is more a "draped" (gentle curves) product. BTW, if you're ever in the Southern Tier of New York, the Corning Museum of Glass is a-may-zing!!! They have an exhibit on pyroceram which is interesting (and is amber in color before being stretched and heat-treated which turns it white). Very recommended if you're in the area!

Is amazing and I recommend visiting it, but the big disappointment is there is zero Corningware and Corell on display.

When you consider how much Corningware they made and corral it’s amazing they did not have a section dedicated to showing off their most popular product.

You must have missed it (or they swap it in and out) but there was a section there when we visited in 2021 (particularly noteworthy was the amber-to-white gradation of a glass blank to create a piece of Corning Ware.

As that was the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage, perhaps they did do a little more on the domestic Corning business (to match up with all the womens suffrage history in that part of NYS).
