Wow - the very same model I bought for my parents back in something like 1977 AFTER mommie dearest welded yet another vintage GE 'plug it in and it's on till you unplug it again' kettle to the counter top....
That kettle toughed it out until 2006, when it developed a leak and my father discarded it.
This one looks like it may have been a model made for the Canadian market, as it features bilingual instructions.
You have stirred a memory, did you not post a picture of your "growing up" kitchen with this in it a good while back, I seem to recall a discussion of a surprise British appliance in there. It may have been for the Canadian market or perhaps they felt the cost of the French instructions did not warrant separate production runs for what must have been a small production run.
There is one of these at home (its Mike's) so I must check the wattage, seems to me like 1500 watts must have taken AGES to boil
My goodness, Al, you have a good memory! Yes, I did post a photo probably a few years ago now, but with that kettle in it. I've seen a couple turn up at estate sales and thrift stores but not often at all....
