Rust Stains IN Fabrics

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Depends on the fabric, Bob.

If it's white cotton, I like a product called Whink.
It is pure toxic waste, and very dangerous, but it works.

I know other people have had good luck with Super Iron Out.

Lemon juice and warm salt!

That's how my gradma and mom have taken out rust form clothes for years until chemical arrives to help them

With a little cotton tampon (those used by nurses), beat on the rusty stains that you have previously coverd of lemon juice and warm powder salt.
You can get the salt warm in a cup with some water drops (or directly lemon juice drops) in the microwave oven.

Naturally that's a household-remedy for light stains...
DON'T DO IT ON WOOL!

I spewed my cawfee when I saw that!!

Beating with a tampon...omg...roflmaotipmp!!!
I love those Euro words/phrases....
Thanks for the laugh!

And Bob....I agree with MTB, WHINK is the best IMHO...stinks to high hell, when it hits that rust, but it works.

Yeah, I'd go with Whink too. You pretty much have to don a hazmat suit before opening the bottle, but it'll get those rust stains right out.

Bob, I use a product called "Magica" rust remover. It's much less toxic than Whink and really works like a charm. I believe they have a website, now. But here's the number- 920.236.4233. A little goes a long way. I've had a tube for several years, plus I don't have porcelain tub washer anymore. Hope this helps, Todd

Hello Uncle Bob--long time no talkee

Here's out family recipe, a lot like the delightful Vivalalavatrice's
Squeeze fresh lemon over the stain; saturate it
Sprinkle sea salt on top of the lemon juice; get it all over
Place garment in direct sunlight for a few hours; actually is easier to lay the garment out in the sun before juicing and salting.
Then wash or rinse; the rust will be gone. Swear on a Bob-load!

I don't know how old the stain is or if the rust is Jetcone atomic ;-D, requiring a Geiger Counter.
