Basket shot 2.
The basket is in great shape !
The agitator is pretty good as well but has hard water and or scum build up.
Suggestions?
2. It washes, Drains well, but it does need a belt and the spin sort of Drag's before getting up to speed which in BD it does not take long lol
the wash speed could be a little faster I gather again the belt need's to be replaced but over all it really is pretty healthy.
Gordon and friend's I really need your advice.

What a great find! CONGRATULATIONS!

I don't have many recommendations about the build-up, but be careful with the scrubber - I had one recently that had detergent residue on it and figured warm water would dissolve it - it did, the whole scrubber began to dissolve, so take caution there.

As far as the spin and agitate speed - I would first be sure the machine has a healthy belt. As you already presume, that will likely help a lot. If you're going to pull the machine down to work on it, oiling the bearings with turbine oil will help too as they are probably dry or nearly so by now. Sometimes old pumps can drag down a machine's operation too, but without seeing yours, I can't know for sure.

GOOD LUCK and let us know if we can help more!

Gordon

There is a little rust on the right side of the frame.
Good thing is all of the Dispensers work great I love the loud clunk at the end of the wash program for bleach and softener.
The ugly part ....THE DIAL WHEN I TURN IT TO THE DRAMATIC WASH-N-WEAR CYCLE WHICH IS SO MUCH FUN...SPLIT INTO TWO PICES.
NOT HAPPY ! Hear is the shot.
Suggestion's ?

Hey Darren, congratulations----a beautiful vintage 'Kenmo!

I like to use "Clorox Clean-Up" spray for general cleaning. Be careful with it though----it bleaches just like regular bleach, so watch what you spray it on! You should use "Lime-Away" or straight Vinegar for the build-up on the lid. As for the plastic/rubber parts, some "Sno-Bowl" toilet cleaner is perfect. If the agitator needs a bit of sprucing-up, you can buy some Clear spray Acrylic at the Depot and give it a couple of good coats. Let it have a few days to set good and hard though!

Meguire's (Automotive) "Cleaner-Wax" is great to finnish off the cabinet parts with. Will make the paint, chrome and glass sparkle like new!

You should use some Super-Glue on that timer knob. That will buy you some time to search for a replacement.

Best wishes!

WOW, what a beauty a 1964 Lady Kenmore in turquoise. Very nice find, congratulations.

This is John L's machine, I took this picture about 8 or so years ago, I used it for a desktop background for a while because its such a pretty machine.

'THE DRAMATIC WASH-N-WEAR CYCLE WHICH IS SO MUCH FUN....

When you wake up after your night of fun.....

Does your baby do the agitated fill after the drain. How I love that. Mine doesn't.

Your story and your jokes are hilarious, Scrubbing nails on scrubber, etc. Who could forget your spotless whites when you hung out a million giant white towels!

We may have the same machine. Heard mine is a 62, but the brass additive injections system is clearly marked 1964. Think yours is TOL and mine below.

They both say Lady Kenmore but mine says 800. Maybe Gordon can figure it out, who is going to trade me a Bronze LK with the Fabulous cooldown that you have.

Darren K, I Done Told You , & Told You, & Told You

About washing your dirty drawers in public! *LOL*

Was just thinking about you and this machine yesterday as one was using the Whirlpool. Nice save and glad you were able to bring the washer home safe and sound.

Becareful of using white vinegar on the inside of the lid, tried it on my Whirlpool and it caused slight "whitening" discolouration, so that was enough of that.

Get thyself a several bottles of either "Dishwasher Magic" or "Washing Machine Magic" and using the hottest water you can get, let the machine go through a long wash followed by a few rinses. This will clean out any gunk and such and over all freshen the unit up a bit. Don't leave the stuff in too long as it could damage the porcelain on metal tub.

Congratulations!!

Darren, it is simply GORGEOUS!! I know you are going to love this machine and I am thrilled that you got it!! I can tell you that if I'd been closer to Flourtown, we'd have been scrapping over this one... LOL
About the dial - look for a clear epoxy glue and you'll have it operational again in now time!! Enjoy it and may you wash with it for years to come!!

Darren and Mike -

Darren's washer is indeed a 1964 model Lady K, and Mike's is a 1963 Lady K. When the '64 model was introduced, it garnered a 900 series number, whereas the Ladies prior had been 800s (there was usually at least one other 800). This was done I believe because this left more series deliniation between the other 800s and the top dog, which by 1964 had the first 3-speed motors.

It is very possible that the first '64 models were made in summer or fall of 1963 or around that time, and that the '63 models continued in production WHILE the '64 models were made. There were seven running changes made to the '63 model as can be seen by the model number engineering revisions that come up on Sears' site, whereas there was only four revisions to the '64 unit.

The '63 model seems to have had a very prolific production run based on the sheer numbers of them that I've since seen. Same for the '65 model.

What I am getting as is that it IS very possible that Mike's machine was made in 1964. Dating a Kenmore can be confusing, but they have always done what looks like odd stuff. The '65 800 machine in fact was made into 1968 - I have one made in 1968 that is Avocado in color, which wasn't even around yet in 1965 and came with a plastic agitator instead of bakelight.

If you want to know for sure, look at your model numbers. Darren's should be something like 110.640490X (or 110.640590X if it's a suds model) and Mikes should be 110.630480X. Up through 1973, the first two characters to the right of the decimal indicate the model year of the machine, and the X in my example is where the engineering revision is found. Engineering revisions occurred when a part number changed in the original parts diagram. Timers, pumps, revisions to filters, belts, etc. all would get new numbers and thus cause revisions to ALL models they were being used in at that time.

The bump on your head when the machine fell after the cat&#3

The model number is exactly as you say 110.630480, but instead of an "X" it ends in 2100.

Now I understand how and why the additive injection system says 64. For two years I have been trying to figure this out. Know I know for sure.
Thank you, G., so very much for the encyclopedic explanation......one more washer mystery solved.

Your friend,

Mike

Gordon.. thanks so much for the information, you are so right on the scrubber cap.
I soak it in some solvent and thank goodness I took it out it started to get slimy so it dried and back to normal sort of lol. The model number your on the mark the model num is 110 640 490 3100. I will e-mail you at one point and thanks again.
