S&H Green Points

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

The "Lowes" grocery store has the "Greenpoints" program.Matter fact-earned 1000 of them when I bought some things at the store-yes I remember the "Green stamps" and how to use them. Will have to read that website on PeterH770's link to see how it works and how to "redeem" them? The old system was so straightforward.

Ahh, how well I remember those Green Stamps, Red Stamps, and even Blue Stamps, and the catalogs of useful goodies one could buy with them. Good to see them coming back, even if in a virtual form without the physical stamps to lick and stick (we used to use a moistened sponge).

Maybe, just maybe, this will help encourage people to *save something* (the Green Points) in order to buy something. Like we did in the old days.

Does anyone else here remember the Red Stamps or the Blue Stamps (what was the rest of the names for those?)

hi there...i remember s & h green stamps and also plaid stamps...and i think there was a third but cannot remember it

In St. Louis the predominant stamp was Eagle Stamps, which was owned by May Department Stores (Famous-Barr). They were given by Famous, as well as National Supermarkets, as well as smaller cos.

The other stamp which I've never seen before was Pink Stamps (given by Schnucks Supermarkets)

Kroger gave Top Value, A&P gave Plaid, someone gave S&H, no doubt.

Lick & Stick

Mom traded in her points /stamps/ books in the 70's for a poppy red 4-slice toaster. What a POS that was, LOL. (For that she gave up a GORGEOUS 2-slice 60's chrome Toastmaster, but I digress.)

Well the cord decided to separate itself from the unit while still plugged-in. It was dancing and sparking all over the counter! (workbench=> brit.) She had a hard time disonnecting it.

It managed to burn a hole in the plastic laminate counter, which was there for decades. You see the counter was *L* shaped with a sink in the corner and was a one-piece rounded corner seam and a backsplash that went up to the bottom of the cabinets. Not inexpensive or quick/easy to replace. LOL

So one strike for mom's luck.

Dear old dad also ruined the counter THE DAY IT WAS INSTALLED, as he was installing the Sears (D&M) 73/74 DW. Apparently the brackets to secure it to the counter were pushing up (acting as spring loaded), and as he pulled out the machine it pulled off a chunk of the front surface of the counter (The front edge was 1 inch [2.5cm] in height).

BTW,

I ROUTINELY PASS on all of these marketing gimmicks. I refure to track anything I don't have to.

FALLOUT from my days as an accountant. (HATED IT!)
CHECKBOOK? Reconciling entry "Adjust to actual" DONE.

NO EXCESS TRACKING for this boy. LOL
