This being meant for the UK I realize it is quick for them but I was laughing at them calling 50 something minutes fast and an achievement. I guess we're a little used to having machines that wash a good sized load in 30 minutes here in the US.
Also, what does the "New" drive system have anything to do with the cycle time? Seems just like advertising mumbo-jumbo to me.
I would like to watch the video when it comes out though. I hope they make a clear door as viewing through that smoked/tinted plastic cover that they have on the exterior of the door would be quite annoying. I have a feeling that Handel's "Water Music" will still be more of a classic when this is done and over with, as well as the "MT 906 Extravaganza" still being of higher production value!

The Samsung QuickDrive machines appear to be on general sale, from around £800 upwards.
The dual-action wash feature has been done twice before - by Dyson in the 2000s ('Contrarotator'), and Hoover in the 1960s ('Keymatic').
This Samsung Q-drive appears to be fitted to machines with the 'AddWash' door, making the whole door look a bit of a dog's dinner, in my opinion. (And that 'AddWash' small door feature seems to have been nicked from English Electric's 1950s 'Liberator'!)
With prices like these, I'd rather have a Miele. At least you're guaranteed parts availability for many years with Miele.

Isn't there some kind of door or something that would cover the intake of the chute while the machine is running?

They can't. The AddWash door has a separate auto-locking interlock.
Figured Samsung was aware of a potential hazard and took care of it.Good for them.Sometimes the machine has to be smarter than the operator!
The AddWash you still have to pause the cycle to wait for the doors to unlock.

No, not exactly a gimmick, but probably not as convenient as it appears. The opening is relatively small and perfect for that missing sock or pair of undies that appears after that cycle has begun. However, I doubt that a pair of man sized jeans or some other larger clothing item would be admitted through that small portal with ease. Lets face it, a front loader will never be as convenient and as flexible as a top loader. Things are what they are.

Personally, I think the AddWash door design is exceedingly ugly - or "fugly" as they say.
I too also think the AddWash door is pretty much redundant, as most machines never fill above the bottom rim of the drum on the wash phase. All that this feature offers is avoiding a drip or two of suds when you open the conventional door. Actually the feature is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, and having an extra interlock switch for the mini door is just another thing to go wrong.

From what I understand, the mini door won't unlock unless the main door unlocks as well. If that's the case, I don't see the point. Besides, many washers will allow you to open the door during the the cycle. My Duet takes a second to unlock the door.

But as Samsungs barely ever get to a water level where the door stays locked, well, yeah...
Instant unlocking is one of the things that makes a washer so much more comfortable. A lot of EU machines sill take 60+ seconds to unlock.
And that whole forgotten item thing is more of a marketing gimmick anyways.
In the 2 months since I moved I never forgot an item. Even back home, if something was forgotten, you'd just wait the few days till the next load.
And if it is a must-have: Just unplugg the machine, wait a few minutes, and the door will open EVERY TIME.
Fun fact: Our Panasonic was a little to liberal about unlocking the door. Just after the drain of a boilwash, you could just open the door, with the laundry still being pretty much boiling hot.

Panasonic must have corrected it. My current Panasonic, when attempting to drain the tub with temperatures over 60 deg C, insists on topping up with cold water to reduce the temperature before emptying.
Your Panasonic is an entirely different generation; yours is already verry much intertwined with Gorenje, ours was the last pure Panasonic made series (VG/VX4-series).
