Some interesting blenders for your consideration
I've been enjoying looking at everyone's blendor collections. I'm an Oyster man myself. However, I pulled out some of my more interesting blenders. I try to resist the temptation to buy more blenders, but when one really intrigues me, I just can't help myself.
From left to right:
Vintage Sunbeam Custome Deluxe. I was intrigued by the Danish Modern styling on this one. With the woodgrain and stylized starburst, I have no doubt that they were trying to appeal to the homeowners that we enamored with the Danish Modern styling that was popular at the time.
Vintage Vornado SSC (Solid State Control). This is probably the craziest blender I own. This thing looks like a radio with a blender on top. You turn one of the knobs to select your blend level and you can look at the post moving inside the little window like you were dialing in an FM Station. The other dial is a timer. You dial in the time and then hit the auto button. The blender stops automatically when the time runs out. Made in Japan for a NJ company. Crazy man crazy.
Vintage? Iona Blender. This is a no-frills blender. All you have is an on and off button and that's it. The styling on this one just intrigued me. It has a very streamlined art deco look to it and would fit very well into a deco kitchen. However, I don't think the blender is actually from the art deco period. It could be as modern as the 80's, but I don't know for sure.
Now this one is a real class. A vintage Waring Robot blender. I was actually on the hunt for one of these when I stumbled across one at a flea market. That was a good day. This one also has a timer on it. And it does sorta look like a robot.
Perhaps I'll pull some more out in the future as I get time.

I remember those Vornados, they were early to mid 70's, when Vornado stuff was showing up all over. I had a Vornado iron. Then they just disappeared. The IONA I think is a Canadian blender from the early 60's but some of the IONA appliances like the coffee mills were made in W.Germany. The Waring, isn't that an early 70's design.

The Waring
I believe the Waring is a 50s early 60s blender. By the time Waring hit the seventies they had solid state blenders with a completely different look and in colors like avacodo. I believe the Waring is quite old.
Interesting about the Iona. You don't see that brand here in the U.S.

That Iona is from the late '50s, I'm pretty sure. I remember seeing an ad for it that made a big deal about the pitcher having a handle--"to avoid embarrassment." Ya know, I've been embarrassed by a lot of things in my life, but my blender was never on the list.
Does anyone have one of those Waring blendors from the mid-60s with the "sideways" styling, little legs, and wood or woodgrain trim? They wer like the "Executive" model and made to be kept on the bar. I'd really like one of those.
And while we're on blenders, I have a spare Lady Vanity, all genuine plastic with the original box that I don't need. Anyone want it? Free!
