save the whirlpool

hey everyone this is chris from st louis.. have this 59 whirlpool with the stuck spin tube..after soaking and tapping the tube is so jammed in there only a saw will free it..so my question is does anyone have for sale a whole machine?? im thinking any belt drive from the 60s should work? any ideas out there? any machines for sale out there? thanks chris

Also have this Kenmore.It's buried,can't get to it to check,but it's probably also large tub.If you think they will work,come get 'em.

Goatfarmer's Whirlpool is an LDA-7800, 18-pounder. It's what my family got new in 1976, to replace the LJA-3200 1962 Whirlpool. An 18-pounder spin tube or agitate shaft is unlikely to work on your 1959 machine.

I dunno about the Kenmore above.

That Kenmore is the exact same model I have (probably from 1982 as well), with the 18 lb. tub.

The agitate shaft is definitely the same height as the standard-capacity models (doesn't extend all the way up like the early Large Capacity machines...the 1968 that I had for example), as I can use a Roto-Swirl in the machine with no problems.

Probably the best thing to do would be to replace only the tub plate along with the suspension rods, trans and superstructure (Spin tube and clutch assy.). Then transfer the tubs and everything else onto the new one

You might want to use the 59 suspension rods also because the 18 lb ones are too long and there are some machines I have run into with an odd size suspension rod causing the tub to sit cockeyed.

thanks for your fantastic offer but im gonna have to wait till i can find an early 60s machine with a short tub..you are way to kind to offer me one of your machines, cant say thank you enough..i think if i find an early 60s machine everything will just swap over to the one i have here.. i really hate to trash this 59 so ill let her rest till spring and decide then..ha ha that is if i dont bring home any more.

well today i finally gave up. took her apart and kept all the good parts and let the rest go to the scrap yard. i feel bad for doing it but its time to let her rest. but on the up side i did find a cool dryer at a sale today so i guess everything evens out..wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped me..always chris
