by an older couple(no kids). When her husband passed away several years ago, she was the only one to use the machine.

It was pretty clean and runs so smoothly.

That self-cleaning filter ring is fun to watch.

When I was in kindergarten, we were shown how to make Japanese lanterns out of construction paper. The flexible connector between the pump and motor reminded me of one when I first saw it. They used it on the combo also and let me tell you; when one or more of the links tore, it made a lot of racket flying around and slapping everything at the speed of the motor. Although you would not want to endure that noise, it would make a funny video to have that noise coming from the combo as it serenely washed along with no vibration or shaking. It would easily be among the loudest of appliance noises.

Elderly neighbor passed away and new homeowners were going t

It never fails to amaze me how dumb some people are..Junk this machine? What??, in favor of the junk that is now being made? Unbelievable!!

That is a great machine Gary! I am sure you and Steve are going to have alot of fun with it. When is the wash-in??

and Happy Anniversary to you both!

Wow!!!

That is beautiful, Gary, and you'll love it. You can do a ton of wash in those--heck, I can do a ton even in the standard-capacity Filter-Flo machines!

The lint ring is fun and charming in its own right, and sometimes I think it's nice to have the filter pan out of the way so you can really watch the agitation.

That's a great machine. Congratulations!!

Hi Gary. My Hotpoint may not be vintage but I just love it.
It is a great machine and has been very dependable.
I am glad you saved it from the Krusher.

Great save Gary, Just love that filter ring. You can really see and enjoy all that wash action!!

I love it when they leave the stickers on appliances!

Someone....AHEM....hates stickers left on appliances. My Neptunes were peeled clean last year. The 'protective' plastic was on them since 1997.
My, how things change(ducks and runs).....

Nice find!

That Hotpoint is nearly identical to the one that my parents are still using. The only difference appears to be a slight change in the font on the control panel. It has given great service since '84 with only a belt and a pump replacement in all those years. The matching dryer has never had any parts replaced. Try that with today's machines!

Ok I can see why this group likes stickers. But do I get a FULL demerit for removing the blue tranparent stuff "Saran wrap" that comes over the controls?

Mom's 1984 DD Kemnore 24" has not ever been repaired, either. And back then I was a renter, so I'd go over there with 6 or 7 loads in a row once a week for many weeks on end.

[I fosee a pic of a hand peeling a backsplash on GG's Maytag Neptune (the hand is mine!)]
