Hi everyone. Today my neighbors tossed this out and I took it. From what they told me they said that when they started it “nothing happened, was just static”. This machine is in absolutely mint condition inside and out, motor transmission and pump look brand new and there is not a speck of rust on the frame, tub is very clean too inside. I cannot let this machine be thrown out, we are bringing the washer inside my apartment tomorrow morning and we put it by our garage covered up til then.

I’m thinking it’s the lid switch, possibly the timer, but have not plugged it in yet. Any advice would be great, this is the exact washer I’ve been looking to have for some time now and it seemed to be a God sent. It’s in Bisque color, just what I’ve always wanted. I’ve got a spare bleach dispenser cup for it too since it’s missing. Cannot pass this one up with the immensely beautiful condition all of this parts and everything are in, clearly this machine was not used very much and was owned by a elderly man who lives under us and since we live in an apartment complex together I’ve heard that machine run before and it always neutral drained so I am already aware the transmission is in great shape, he rarely ever used it maybe once a week if that…definitely low mileage on this beauty. Any input is welcomed, thanks everyone.

Their loss is your gain. Probably needs something like a motor coupler as mentioned, amazes me on how people get rid of things over a part that doesn’t cost too much.

As the saying goes: “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.

Just got it inside and plugged it into the wall, did not hook it up to water as I just wanted to see what would happen. You two above are right!! The motor coupler is shot. The one problem it could be that I already have a replacement part for, I’ve had a coupler laying around for two years that I accidentally ordered long ago. Plugged her in, and put her to spin, and it made that notorious grinding type of sound it makes when the coupler is bad and didn’t spin, but motor ran. Inlet valves hum when put to agitation, and makes the same loud sound if I put it at the last few mins of agitation on Ultra Clean cycle. Speed selector knob works too. I can already tell this machine is a little quieter than mine due to the sound dampening in the cabinet.

From what the neighbors described to me yesterday it sounded as if it wasn’t filling. Now I get what they meant by “It did nothing”. This is going to be a very easy repair that I look forward to doing soon.

Here are some photos of the underneath, showing the trans, motor & pump which all look great just needs to be dusted. Clutch looks like new still, no grease or oil anywhere around the clutch or trans. Neutral drain should work, I heard this thing running once a week when they used it downstairs and I always heard it neutral drain, so hoping that will be good still.

Very nice condition

That’s great that it only a broken motor coupler.
Check lid switch too in case (can be bypassed if needed)
I think there’s a setting on the dial you can set the pointer to to check if machines motor coupler and neutral drain? I didn’t know mine had that setting til another member here pointed it out to me!
Happy washing Dan

Yea the lid switch is in good working order and has not been messed with before, still operates when lid is shut but won’t when lid is open so it’s working just great! The timer isn’t noisy on this one thankfully and works well.

Yea it’s definitely the motor coupler as I was able to get it into agitate mode and spin mode and both times it made that grinding type of sound when they go. I’ll have to try that on mine and see if that works Stan, my dial is a little more condensed on that end of the timer.

Dominic, it actually came with the bleach cup! I didn’t notice at first cause it was winged into the tub, but it’s back on now where it belongs. Will be getting repaired next week.
