Scovill?

Does anyone know who Scovill is and are they the same company that makes zippers?

I have seen the Scovill name associated with a lot of appliances. There's Hamilton-Beach-Scovill, Dominion-Scovill and even NuTone-Scovill, maybe others. I was just wondering who they are and what became of them?

I'd a thought it would be much easier verifying what appears to be a very easy question.  Certainly the zipper portion of the question turns out to be one and the same; although the Scovill zippers happened through their acquisition of Conmar Zippers, presumably some time in the 1960's.  (Good luck trying to verify that date).  Then in 1996, Ideal Fasteners acquired both zipper lines from Scovill.

 

It does appear Nutone-Scovill is the same Scovill.  Whomever is responsible for their company history appears to have been told to produce a summary, rather than one that might actually be complete.  The very idea-!
