I saw my first Neptune washer on the trade in pile today. It was at the local Menards home center. They try to sell trade ins,and it had a $69.00 price tag.But the back was off it,and with what I've heard about Neptunes,I figured it was in a good place.

Kenny, did you see that post on E-Bay a few months ago where this guy took a photo of a room full of junked Neptunes he wanted to sell? I'll see if I kept the number of that post and I'll send it to you. Pitiful. -Steve

First?

You are just now seeing your first neptune trash pile? LOL I have been seeing them turn up for about 3 yrs now. Sad but true. I swear I must have been the only person that didnt have any mold issues with either the 3000 or my old 7500.

I saw a Neptune in a trash pile from the swap shop I go to out here regularly-I even asked him-"is this the junk pile"He replied-"yes"those are going to the landfill.I was surprized to see it-it looked almost new-he didn't say what was wrong with it.Saw it about a year ago. Most of the other machines were stripped of their parts-the Neptune was not-he was chucking it out whole.

You are among the elite! There are a few people that havent had any problems. I've gone into some homes and the customer says, my machine has been great , this is the first problem. I open their machine and get bowled oven by the smell of the mold. My 3000 started having electrical problems so they bought it back at 1-1/2 yrs old. I decided to upgrade to the 7500 and it was awsum. I sold the 7500 to buy the nexxt.

Bye Bye Maytag

My atlantis went to the curb today. No more maytags for me. I replaced it with a fisher & paykel gwl11 and when my atlantis dryer goes south a f&p unit will replace it as well.

The atlantis locked up during a wash and I didn't know it until I went back after the dial said it was done. When I lifted the lid well it was full of softner filled water. I could move the tub by hand but the motor couldn't. It was model mav5000aww and wasn't that old. Its companion dryer still takes too long to dry a load of jeans. Today I'm going to look at the whirlpool duet dryer because it's supposed to dry a load in the time it takes the washer to do a load.

The Whirlpool Duet Dryer runs fairly hot and does not cooldown enough before stopping. I much prefer the 29" wide dryer. Better airflow and faster drying. IMHO the best designed dryer since the mid 60's. I do prefer the Kenmore version with Wrinkle Guard I (keeps tumbling for 30 min) instead of intermittant tumbling. I think W/P calls it Finish Guard.
