I have 5500 Maytag Neptune washer that I plan to scrap. Any parts worth salvaging before it gets put to the curb?

Machine is in rough condition with rust on the base so not a good candidate to rebuild.

I'd be interested in the inlet valve if you're wanting to get rid of it and it doesn't leak. Ours has a leak in the hot side and will partially fill the machine overnight if the faucets aren't turned off.

Are the inlet valves on these some sort of proprietary design?  I haven't taken a look at the back of my stacking Neptune unit yet, but if a Neptune-specific valve is required, that would be a real bummer.

It does appear to be Neptune specific, at least for the 5500, I know the 3000 uses a different setup, but not sure if that one is specific or not.

the digital versions used two different valve setups

they are interchangeable between models.....but sometimes you have to switch the dispenser module with it...

if I am correct, one has a valve connected by a hose to the rail and solenoids for the dispensers....

the other one has the valve and rail all-in-one, and hoses leading to the dispensers...

if your going to save parts....take off the valve, and what ever dispenser setup it has....also wise to keep the inserts and lid with all of it....the whole unit will fit either machine....

So would my MLG2000AWW stacking set's washer (serial #78536046EJ) have a hard-to-find inlet valve?

Any educated guesses on whether its wax motor would have likely been replaced by now?

OK....wax motor.....the stacked unit is along the lines of the 4000 series....and should already have the newer 'black tip' actuator in it.....you can always check , if it is red or brown, then you will want to change it...
