Sears Coldspot

Until I came across a great thread here showing Mrs. Cole and Mrs. Henderson back in the late 60's touting Sears Coldspot refrigerators, I'd forgotten all about them using that name.

I have no idea where that name came from--or where it went.

Could anyone here tell me a little more about Coldspot?

I'm hazy on where the Coldspot name came from -- I know it goes way back to the '30s, but Sears replaced it with the Kenmore badge around 1980 or so.

Coldspots were

Made by Seeger refrigerator company in Evansville Indiana,They developed a really good rotary compressor,, Sears engineered a hostile takeover of both Birtman Electric and Seeger by Whirlpool in 57, Whirlpool used the Seeger compressor for many years as it was better than most anything on the market.
