Sears Ultra Plus in TL Washer

HMMMM!

With all the rants and raves on here about the Sears detergent, I think I'll invest in some after I use up the box of Arm and Hammer that I just bought.

However, I would like to know if it's any good for items that may soak overnight. I've been doing this to my whites lately. As I don't have a machine of my own (I have to use the DREADED LAUNDROMAT), I pull out my little 10 gal. storage tub and use that.

I just used up the last little bit of Foca that I had left on a white pre-soak the other day, and I actually could tell a difference from when I pre-soaked with Surf. Much whiter.

What is the water softening ingredient...I'm always scared that there will be calcium carbonate buildup when the builder is washing soda (my grandmother used the bucket-style low sudsing detergent from Jewel in Chicago and her Maytag was encrusted with white lime buildup)

Foca...

...unless they've changed it, has phosphates. That's probably why you saw such a difference. Nothing I've seen currently substitutes for them adequately.

I can't see why the Sears detergent wouldn't work as a good presoak. It has enzymes for protein stains, and I would imagine you could add some STPP if you wanted the whiteness.

Sears Orange Big Box

Good detergent. I used it for quiet some time back in 2004-2005. WATCH FOR SALES! They often run it for 30%-50% off...I've seen people stock up by the buggy full! Best place is to just bookmark it on the website and check occassionally.

When it is on sale I usually buy 10 boxes

that last until the next sale. I use it in the smaller washers and always does great on the nasties. The cost is soo low too. Most of the time if you watch it is 2 for 1 or 50% off amout every 8 or 12 weeks. Wish they had a softner too.

...on my lunch break. One 275 load for me, and one for my mother and grandmother.

I just bought the 275 load green box and it was discounted 15%. I would have bought it anyway with or without the discount. I bought the previous box on 10/29/2009 and still haven't used it all.

Bought a bucket of it like 3 years ago, and just now about out. Plan to buy a box (orange) in the next couple weeks. I use it in both FL and TL at the washateria, and it makes few suds, cleans well, and leaves things smelling fresh, not perfumed.
