You said my parents' Kenmore dryer is actually a WP. I thought it was a Maytag (or Maytag designed), because we had it taken apart one time, and the layout was pratically identical to the Maytag we had before that.

I notice there are 2 current versions of WP dryers; one with the top-mounted lint filter, and one with the lint filter mounted in the door opening. Are they both designed by WP? I know that WP bought Maytag, so I figured that maybe WP simply uses that design now.

Also, does Whirlpool actually make the Duet front-loaders, or are they imports?

Like you, I'd also been visiting the site for several years before joining. Don't know why I waited so long! Have met one other member in person, and looking forward to meeting others. As for the Kenmore dryer with the lint filter in the door opening, that is the WP 27" line. They've made them since sometime in the '80's I believe. I bought one as a match to my Whirlpool Calypso washer, but have never hooked it up yet. Would have preferred it be the 29" model, as I hear they are better dryers overall.
