He doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of beating the rethuglican running against him and will be rewarded with a good position in the Obama administration.
Dorgan is also leaving, he would be facing a rethuglican with deep pockets and the ability to push all the right buttons for the low-information voters.
Basically, the Dems are either going to have to wake up and smell the coffee or we are going to face gridlock for at least six years.
Personally, and I am a yellow-dog Democrat, I am so furious and angry with the blue-dawgs and the conservadems that I am going to work hard with those gay groups which are focused on defeating these 'Democrats' in the primaries and running real Democrats.
Truman was right. Given a choice between a conservative Democrat and a Republican, conservatives will always vote for the Republican.
We are fooling ourselves if we think the Republicans are going to be anything but bad for gay rights. Our task is to make very clear to those Democrats who think we will hold still for their abuse because we have no place to go that we are willing to take a few on the chin and see the party lose some elections as punishment for throwing women, gays and transgender under the bus.
