Thanks for the link!  It really sucks that the person who has this is actively courting scrappers for it. That pisses me off a bit, honestly. They own it so it's their business; but having no regard for something like this is just a sign of no values and lack of class.

Don't think seller means any harm.

Majority of people out there aren't hobbyists or collectors like those of us here in group. They see an old appliance for what it is to them, and just want it gone. It doesn't usually occur to them that someone would want said old "junk" (if you'll pardon use of word) for anything else but scrap value.

Personally prefer such persons as opposed to those who believe they've struck gold having any random old appliance to offer.

Notice that the freezers used electric compressors, not the adsorption refrigeration system which was not efficient enough to power a freezer.

Wonder how energy efficient this Servel chest freezer is compared to modern offerings.

Growing up our house like many others had a huge chest freezer. Mom joined some sort of plan (don't ask me how she got Dad to go along) that delivered huge amounts of frozen and other food at a go.

We kids thought we'd died and gone to heaven! A huge fridge and freezer in kitchen, and a gigantic chest freezer in basement just chock full of goodies. Wrong! *LOL*

Don't know how she managed, but Mother Dear knew down to each bit of frozen treats (such as ice cream cones or ice pops) what was in those appliances. There was Hell to pay if count came up short.
