I just brought a Service quartz off a farmer in Darby for £10. He said it just pops the earth trip when you switch it on. Although if you hold your finger on the door open button it dose open as it pops the trip.
I have not investigated further other then taking the top and back off yet. This will happen over the week end when I have my tester and spanner set with me.

Hers some pics so far I hope you like them. It seems cleanish and the rubber is intact.

Size matters......

Bigger the better as far as the photos are concerned!! Shows all the detail.

Well done on obtaining a quartz - great machines. I have two quartz models and on one of them the wiring to the door interlock had been damaged by the outer tub banging into the wires probably during a really bad unbalanced spin so might be worth checking in case they have shorted. The other thing that went on mine was the heater thermal fuse.

I'll send you the wiring diagram for the previous model that might help

Motors

They are replacement motors James, mums had the original round first by Servis then GEC, then this later square motor...

Heres the link to Steves old thread as it has a wealth of information in it, as the series progresses like most manufacturers update components, the quartz series had minor changes BUT the control boatds where upgraded on each main series change,
i.e. 600, 601, 6027 and 6030, in some cases on replacement components you had to change the wiring loom or reverse wires etc...thats the issue if you swap controls, boards parts etc, you risk blowing the boards if you dont change like for like...

Look for chafed wires first. If wiring OK disconnect the motor plug and try it. If it still trips put the motor plug back, disconnect both heater wires and try it. Also look at the mains filter which goes to the mains cable.

Hey Brummy bear first like to say what a lovely machine you have there. We'll done on getting it.
Secondly nice pictures love that tub
Thirdly hope your back gets better soon what happened feel sorry for you

Servis Quartz!

Hi These machines are cracking, I have the 3305 from the same range, piano keys but it is a timer controll machine, and it has the Spin care drum. I also have a Servis Quartz MK601, the rarer version of the early Quartz machines. It had a new tub unit, motor and weights and modules last weekend, with the help of Chestermike, Keymatic2303 and Chanceskydiver, who also provided the donor machine :) As others have said, check for damaged wires. Sorry to hear about your back, hope you make a speedy recovery

Chris.

(3305 below, excuse the washing pile by it!)

And the MK601....

...Obtained it in early Jan, paid £20 for it, un aware that the outer tub was totally corroded and beyond fixing, it had been like that for quite some time. If you'd like, I've got a few pics I took when it was fixed and I can post them. But now it works like new, sadly its the main washer in the collection until I get a newer one (Not too long now!. I say sadly as it is old, and as much as I like it I dont want to wear it out! :)

All the best

Chris
