I've looked at the new GE Top Load washer in Lowe's and Home Depot, and have noticed that the washer is no longer front service-able, and the whole cabinet appears to be solid in the back as well!!! There are no visible screws in the front that I noticed, I thought maybe the whole cabinet tilts off like a WP DD washer. Any thoughts? Could it be that this machine can only be serviced on it's side?
As far as noise is concerned, I remember my old GE FF installation on the second floor of my town house and during spin, that machine sounded like an fighter jet flying through the house!!! LOL I don't think a new washer should be a noisy as the new GE top loaders seem to be.

My VMW agitator is honestly not very loud. The only potential nuisance is the coughing of the pump because it's vertically mounted, just like what GE has done on this new machine. Never have understood that particular design decision. Horizontal mounts allow for an elbow that helps to let the remaining water gurgle instead of "bounce" as it does with the vertical, and isn't very noticeable. But, it seems to be a characteristic that is here to stay for a while. Glad I got my Bravos XL when I did.

loud motors?

Interesting videos. I guess what I sense is that those motors are quite loud. They have a very strong, magnetic, electrica sound output.
Not necessecarily bad.....heck my parents' 1982 Maytag DRONES on and on with a roar.
Just a little surprising.

Service-able from the bottom only!!!

Did not see this in another thread!! Why would GE take this backwards step as far a s service-ability of the machine is concerned? Would this new design explain the larger capacity tub?

Judging noise level from videos

is impossible.

There are just too many variables, proximity of the camera/mic, room acoustics and that ever present automatic level control that sets the average level wherever it sees fit.

Unless there is a side by side comparison (and even then maybe not) gleaning an idea or how loud a machine is on YouTube just isn't valid.
