Servis 111 supressor question

Im back again with my Servis, the supressor has blown and I have removed it, everything seems to be working fine. but my question is, is it safe? there is currently a green neutral wire hanging around as this is what was connected to the supressor, does this have to go on to a specific terminal?, please answer in layman's terms I just have fears that it may become live and have no earthing to protect me, Im to used to be working on vacuum cleaners to know anything about repairing washers.

Can you provide a photo of what you have one and the said wire, neutrals are not normally green

its perfectly safe they were for preventing sparking on tv screens but since we are all digital it won't interfere with anything and there are a lot of vacuums now running with out suppressors

A few points

Green wires are 'Earth' wires and are there to provide a conduit for dangerous current should a fault occur. You might have compromised the safety of the machine by removing the suppressor and leaving the earth wire disconnected.

Suppressors are indeed still required, even these days, as the 'impulse interference' (sparks from thermostats, doorswitches, etc) can be enough to disrupt digital television reception. Remember the flaky reception with the OnDigital service?

Don't worry too much

There are a lot of earth wires still connected the earth on the suppressor is just for itself as long as the earth to lead is still intact and connected to a metal surface you should be fine.

Actually. No. Because it’s not an issue these days.

I’ve de supressed a many of my vintage vacs and washers and there is zero radio or tv interference.

A problem 15 years ago is not relevant to today , and of the 30 odd collectors I regularly keep in touch with, none have had any problems either.

Should i have connected the loose wire up to a terminal, like I said I will get a picture for you later on, I just dont want to be blown to kingdom come thats all
