Servis 308S washes again at last!

well after a painfully long 2 years and 4 months, the Servis 308S that i bought way back in November 2011 is now sorted! the 3rd drum paddle fitted, new door seal, all tappets fixed, and a few other odd jobs sorted, ill get to those later, first ill share a shot and the thread when i first got the machine

hi you lot, the servis is now safe in the house, it is in very good condition but there are a few problems 1) the plug has been taken off 2) the doorseal needs replacing 3) one of the drum paddles are missing, if anyone can find one anywhere id be greatful ill be ordering a new seal next week...

unknown problem number 1

we heard a horrendous rattle from the machine on a spin cycle, immediately we suspected shot shocks, so off came the base with the rollers, and off came the shocks, we were surprised to find the plates to support the shock absorbers had suffered metal fatigue and cracked badly! luckily i had a spare set for a Hotpoint 95 series so we ended up fitting those

back to square 1

after that was completed the machine was run again and we still heard the tapping, so upon further investigation we thought it might be the paddles slightly loose, so we tightened those, tried again, still no luck, then we thought it might be the heater, tightened that, and found it was then scraping against the drum, so after removing and checking for any damage we refitted the heater correctly this time and we never heard another knock!...until the electrics tripped!

LUCKILY there was no problems with the machine, we were investigating all wires, we found 3 to a small electrical board were loose, those were sorted, then we thought it was the brushes seeing as it makes a very scratchy sound on left turns yet after removing and inspecting the brushes we found there was still quite a bit of length on them. then after a few more hours and 3 failed test washes later we found it was the plug socket...oh how we were all relieved!!
the machine is now sitting as the daily driver for a short while, just to be certain there really is no problems! sorry for not putting many restoration pics up, we never had time!
but anyway the machines sorted and we're all happy!

Very good, we could have fixed all these issues back in August, but we didn't! Oh well! Can't wait till I can come over next and see her in action this time fully working! Well done, its looking great!

Servis Slimline 308S

Congratulations on getting your 308S washing machine up and running, they are great machines and not much that cant be sorted parts and workarounds not withstanding.

Where the damaged plates from the chassis end or tub mounts? I love the fact you can remove the outer cabinet leaving the tub mounted of the base chassis like the Asko models.
Is the inner drum okay? no chips or rusty bits etc?

Mum had the 308 from 1978, this was given to my gran in 1986, and then to her sister my Great Aunt in 1991 and worked until last year when I swapped it out for the 321.

The inner drum was fine, found a few brown spots but they wiped off luckily enough, the plates were from the tub mounts, now all i need to is sort the motor, I've already checked the brushes and they've still got length on them, not sure if its enough though, going to replace them anyway to be safe. i heard Hoover Electron or Logic brushes will fit, is that correct?
