Servis Mark two heater

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hi Lance...

It must have slipped my memory, if you can mail me your address i will bring the manual into work and get them posted off to you, scanned copies are not great of this manual as the drawings are not very dark.

What did you get from Qualtex ? Rubber mounts..?

I think the Empress has a 3kw heater from memory. I didn't think it had a heater, it would have been a EW50H if it did, but looking good regardless, not sure i would bust it just to put a heater in.

Servis

Hi lance, great line up of machines to cover all areas of laundry, is this the Servis from Blackpool or the Blue one repainted??

Still searching for spare spin boots, though mathew came up with a great suggestion of using an inflatable tyre inner tube, which could look like its would work..

A few of us are sorting out machines for parts so hopefully we can look at those spin can boot replacements...

How do you rate the Parnall over the Empress??

Hi Mike,

That spin can boot is that the black cowl around the top of the outer spin can ?

Lance...regarding your Parnall, does it still empty via the side pipe without any leaking..? the one i had because it was a split tube which could be raised up, the rubber tube connector had perished, and use to wash the floor instead of emptying into the sink..lol

I will hopefully get those scans off to you early next week, I am not at home at the weekend.
Cheers

washers

Hi Mike and keith,
Mike , thats actually both the washers you mentioned, the blue and white one sprayed cream and an origional cream top from the Blackpool washer , thankfully a great match in paint, the old blue and white top was fine but i prefered cream as it has a mnore vintage look.
When we took the cream one to bits it would appear that it was made slightly differently and the spin can had never had a rubber seal on it , so we used the spin can from that one and it works perfectly with no leaking etc although as the rubber hose on the autorinse was very badly corroded on both i cant use that function so have never tried the spinner with a constant flow of water going in.
The Parnall was almost my dream washer , i say almost as i would still prefer one with a heater and chrome wringer plates.
It works perfectly and thankfully the rubber seal on the out let pipe is good so no problems with emptying it.
Very difficult to compare it with the Empress, i think if i could only keep one and i had the Parnall i really want then it would be the Parnall, partly because it reminds me of my youth ( some thing which is a long way behind me ) and also it washes great , the wringer is slightly faster and i just like the look of it.
Anybody know who bought the Brand new Hoover single tub off ebay last week?
Was it you Mike?
Cheers boys
Lance

Hi Lance.

Superb set of machines that you have there and love the kitchen!

When you have a moment, could you post some more pics of your collection - in particular the Parnall? Never seen one in the flesh and great that there is such a fine specimin in presrvation.

Parnall

Hi Paul,
Will do some photos next week and post them on here.
That is one of two parnalls that i have , the other is the model with heater but the chrome wringer plates are missing , the pump leaks slightly and the agitator is cracked.
Still it dosnt eat anything so its sitting in the garage.
I think Derby is about 2 hours away from me but if you ever want to come and play with the Parnall just say the word.
Glad you like the kitchen , i actually wanted a 1940s/50s style kitchen but was sensible enough to realise that if ever i want to sell the house not many people want a pot sink and a tin draining board, the Belfast sink is my second sink in 2 years , i had the old one taken out which i origonaly had put in , and this one put in just because it was better for wringer washers! Honestly!
Thankfully i have an understanding partner, well so far any way.
Cheers
Lance

Morning Lance,

It would be good to see some pics, the machine i had was the one you want, but never seen the re-styled machine. I think I may still have the chrome wringer guards, let me see and i will let you know.

Like you I would have loved to have had a 50's kitchen, but thought better of it.
