I just thought that I would share some pictures of my latest arrival. Collected yesterday I've not really had chance to have a good look at it yet. From the quick look I've had so far its going to need some belts, the two pictured came with it but weren't attached. I'm guessing they are the spin belts. It'll need some plumbing doing too, it's lost its twin line hose and has had modern plastic hoses fitted but these have been cut off underneath. The previous owner told me that it had been in weekly use as their main washer until some time last year so I'm hoping it won't be too bad. The rubber lid trims are quite badly crazed and the seal between the wash tub and deck looks to be in a similar condition. Hopefully I should get time to have a better investigation at the weekend.

Delighted to see that you won it Ian, had my eye on it myself but held back when you expressed an interest in Shoppers Square.

Get yourself some Son of a Gun to help restore the rubber parts. You can pretty much forget getting a twin line drain hose but when we were up in Durham a couple of weeks ago Richard's Supertwin had two (possibly original) hoses and it was not really a problem - if you REALLY want a single hose Austin put one together a few years ago with the benefit of a couple of non-return valves.

That it was in regular use until last year it is a good sign although you may have a good deal of scale and washing powder deposits to clear. Maybe next time Mike is over you can bring it up to Sutton and get the expert to give it the once over.

I must admit I was expecting it to have gone for a lot more, pleased it didn't though. I do like the red ones, I can't think that I'd seen a red and cream one before so I thought I'd go for it with it only being 40 odd miles away. I went back in the archives here before I bid and had a look at the job Austin did with the valves, I think I might head that way but if it has to have two hoses that isn't a worry. Finding belts may be a bit more challenging, although the smaller one doesn't look too bad, not sure what it is for yet though. Best guess is spin pump.
It would be good to get an expert view on it so I know where I'm going.

Hi Ian,
Liking the Red n cream Supertwin scheme, you can find the odd few spares kicking around..sadly the twinline hose was the most expensive hose i know of, i purchased 2 from Homecare which use to handle the spares for Servis, when i purchased them they were £45 each...I still have them.

Hi Ian, great job for rescuing the first Servis Supertwin, having seen Richards model with 2 hoses I would go with that setup rather than the plastic, looks more original and there is space in the back panel for 2 hoses to move freely, the washtub hose will be over the sink so only the spinner needs to move between suds return and rinsing. Belts are freely available but alsas the original twinline hoses are extinct.

Mum had her model for 18 years and only needed one replacement twinline hose and that was after 17 years of use with a pillar tap full deck sink and one final year of an inset sink which used to stretch the hose over the worktop and finally broke it.

Keith, name ya price for Ian ha ha , (appliance mates rates of course) Between us all we have the four colorways , Sky Blue, Guardsman Red, Lemon peel Yellow and Almond Green.

I noticed that there should be space for two hoses in the back panel, perhaps that's where I should be going, I'd probably leave the pump hose in the suds return. You know I always wring as much wash water out before loading the spinner so rarely suds return. I know what you mean about stretching over inset sinks, I do find it a bit of a pest with regular twinny washing trying to keep the hose hooked over the sink.
I do like the Lemon Peel Yellow with the white, I think its the best of the four options.

They were expensive even back then in the early 90's !! I wrote some prices on the service diagram i had at the time, lid bands were £20 - they had everything though even got a price for a new agi

Quick Inspection

Having an hour to spare I thought I would do a quick inspection to see what was needed. The wash and spin belts are missing, I do have somewhere a 111 wash belt that I might see if it will fit but I'm not sure where to get a spin belt as I can't find anyone who lists for Mk19. Looking at Richard's thread about his Mk2 the belts seem totally different as it appears the Mk1 drives the spin pump off the bottom of the spin can pulley. I'm guessing the smaller belt it came with which is in good condition is for this purpose. The spin pump seems to be virtually seized, I can only turn it about half an inch in each direction and the wash sump hose from the tub to pump is coated in what looks like guttering sealant and gaffer tape. When I looked at the hoses that have been fitted they are coated in sealant at the end and I'm inclined to think that they have both been 'glued' into the remains of the twin line hose which is no longer there. Finally the gearbox seems to have a bit of an oil leak, nothing new there, and has also got liberal amounts of grease spread over it. I was also surprised to see that the wash motor is made by AC Delco.

I have not seen AC Delco on anything in years. All those plants which made them in Dayton Ohio, or Anderson Indiana were demolished last decade, before the Delphi and GM bankruptcies. Of course.
They unemployed their own customers.
The ensuing trickle down hit me in 2007, and I am not even in manufacturing.

I wonder if belts from other machinery would fit, drill presses for example? It is always more difficult if you don't have an old one to show prospective suppliers though.

apologies too for my slow response. If you can give me some measurements of the belts I'l see if I can match them up to any I've got. I did laughingly think I could look in my MK1 and check, laughing as I can't even see or remember where it is in the garage, though granted I do know which garage lol.

Also I do have a couple of pumps if you can post a photo when you get a chance

Thanks. I've dug a couple of belts out of the garage this afternoon, I'm not sure what one is, it's used but doesn't look long enough to be off a Dolomite. I'll try them on when I have a moment and measure the one it came with and let you know. I'll tip it over and take some pics too.
Sadly I don't have the problem of not being able to find a machine, the dining room is starting to get a bit full, and I can't hide anything under an embroidered doily, lol

Apologies if I have posted this twice , something went wrong first time around.
My mark two has hotpoint rubber hoses on it ( from Amazon )!
Does the job but of course not totally authentic.

Those look just like the hoses on Richard's Supertwin and as you can see there is loads of room for them to pass through the back of the machine.
