Well another day at work produced this lovely old Servis 200tumble dryer, it is in fantastic visual condition as you can see from the pictures (other than a little heat damage to the door seal)

Me being a thick sod thought it odd that it had aluminium trim around the base and it didnt want to roll on its wheels.

As i lifted it into the car the aluminium base trim came away and Bingo! christ it had the uber rare stacking frame with it ;-), there were the wheels ha ha i laughed to myself about being so dumb.

The colour scheme to me is better than the later brown colour scheme.

I shall try it out this coming week and try and squeeze it into the rapidly diminishing space i have left after Mike & Mat visited last weekend and removed some machines.

Now of course I am wondering about the matching washing machine, is it still around ????

Hi Handsome, Nice dryer and it's got the stacking frame to boot. a friend of the family had the same dryer untill 2003 when she bought Bosch dryer when she had her kitchen and utility room redone. She gave the servis to her mother who used it untill last summer when she bought a hotpoint compact dryer and the servis got taken away before I knew. I'm sure a matching washer will appear soon.

my gran had the same dryer in the brown colour scheme. I only remember her having it for a couple of years when i was very little. I do remember the sensor had gone on the door so she had to lean the bin against it to make it work. And i remember getting told off for turning the timer and letting it tick down without the machine being on lol.

Gary, you are so lucky working somewhere that brings you the chances to save some iconic classy machines, I am so envious of you place of work.

Finally a Mk200 is saved!

Yippeeeeee!!!!!

Great find and great save Gary.

Looks in superb condition and....WELL....complete with a stacking kit too! as you say - uber rare.

Really pleased that one of these intermediate machines has been saved.

This Mk200 dryer and the matching Mk300 washing machine, replaced the Mk72 washer and Mk75 dryer (the matching set that Mike has).
So Servis briefly dabbled with an alternative colour scheme to brown in the 1970s (1975), before quickly returning to brown when the full height slimlines came in.
The silver and blue uns were the Mk200 dryer, Mk300 compact washer, Mk301 Selectronic and Mk82 and Mk82D Dishwashers.

An aunt and uncle of mine had this matching set and I have clear memories of them both. always thought them cute.
When they moved house, the new house had a purple kitchen so my Uncle Ed painted the washing machine purple to match. Dare I say it, but it actually looked quite good to be honest.

Now. where is this dryers matching Mk300? Keep your eyes peeled and spread the word to the guys at the sites to keep a lookout!

Paul
p.s I too think this colour scheme has the edge over the more usual brown. The splashes of orange and red around the dial contrasts with the silver and blue. lovely scheme, but not Servis.

Servis

Well it looks a lot better in the pic than how you described it!!!...Lol its mint and the 4th generation of the servis dryers, the 3rd compact, mid 70`s, have never seen that colourway in the flesh...only in an add, & then with the earlier washer!!!

I wonder if they will come back in with the washer, if stacked it could only have been with a later Servis!!! That stacking kit is worth it alone...and funny we where only talking of those last week...well I `ll phone you later and talk about my wish list and watch them come in next week!!!

Heres the matching washer with it,

Hi Mike.

Keep uttering the word 'Selectronic' as maybe this dryer was bought as a match for one of these, rather than the standard compact!!!!!

If its a case of 'mention it and it comes in', then please add square door Credas to your utterances as well!

Hope all's Ok in your neck of the woods.

LOL:-)

We are trampling over each others postings.

I forgot to mention that the picture is courtesy of the Mike King Collection!
I might have taken the picture, but you are the proud owner of the document.

Matching Washer

Well i did comment to the guy who dropped it off for the elderly owner that if the owner wanted to be rid of the washer then to bring it in.

Yah never know ;-)

Envious ???

LEE

I can understand anyone being a bit envious of us who work these sites, because yes they can be a toy shop sometimes.

But they are shit jobs, poor pay and conditions they are mainly contracted out so the local authority does not employ us that way they can get round a lot of the employment protection laws, this means we work long hours without any fixed breaks in all weathers no sick pay no holiday pay no employer liability

there are a lot of aspects i like about this sort of work but you do have to rough it in order to get access to gear you want

Servis Supa Dry

I finally unloaded the dryer today and tried it out in the garage and i am pleased to say it is all working :-).....now where the bloody hell to put it!

fully working.

what a waste! grrrrrrrr.

thank god you were there to save and fingers crossed whatever it was sat on top of comes your way too!

paul

yah never know

Paul a waste yeah i know but these sort of items that turn up working are always to our benefit, better than having to spend hours fixing them ;-)

If you look to the rear right of the dryer you can see the back of the logic 1100 i was supposed to break for spares today to make room for the Servis.......well i thought i would just have a tinker with the keymatic first, next thing i knew it was time to come home !.......ah well
