Glass impossible to reproduce!

I have a 1957 RI-39-57 that had broken glass in the back panel. I was able to find a replacement. I thought it was interesting that the breaks were primarily behind the left rear burner. It looks like the range in this thread has a similar break pattern. I wonder if a pan would have come in contact with the chrome backsplash frame and cracked the glass. So many if these ranges have broken glass panels.

I kept a picture of the broken glass I replaced. It would be very hard to duplicate in my opinion. The panel is one piece and heavy. I do have an extra backsplash for a 1958 and 1959 Custom Imperial with good glass but not this 1957.

At $30 it would be a great buy!

Broken Control Panel Glass On Ranges

This often happens from leaving an element on at a high heat without a pan on the element or too small a pan that does not cover the outer part part the element.

[ This is a good reason that ranges should not have large or very powerful burners at the rear ]

Several customers have also told me that they were frying on a rear burner-element and hot grease splashed or popped up hitting the glass and broke it.

I'm very surprised that the glass panels are one piece. I would have expected separate parts on each side of the chrome trim. I'm also surprised Frigidaire didn't use heat resistant glass, as they used in oven windows.

How is the white part made? Is it a fired-on enamel finish?
