I know some of you have had washers and dryers shipped across the US any recomendations on a good company to use and what the cost usually is...IM allways finding good deals but they seem so far away and its not feasable to drive 700 miles to pick something up...would appreciate the feedback...Thanks TIm

I have used "Craters and Freighters" for a number of machines and have found them to be reliable. I thought they were expensive untill I tried to go and get the item myself.
The plain truth is, whenever I am thinking about going and getting a machine I always get a quote from "Craters and Freighters" first. Whatever their quote is will be very close or slightly LESS than what it would cost for ME to go and fetch the item, never mind the wear and tear on my truck!
You can go directly to their web site and sign up as a customer. Then all you need is a rough idea of the size and weight of the machine(s) and a zip code where they will be removed from.

I agree ... I've had 3 machines shipped via Craters and Freighters and on 2 they came under the quoted cost.
The 101P I just received was packed so beautifully that I hated to open the box!! The pallet was very strong. The only problem ... they filled the sides of the crate with styrofoam peanuts!! I had a full 30 gallon garbage bag filled with them!! Uggghhh.
All 3 were delivered to my home on a truck that had a lift gate. I just met the driver with a dolly and it was completed.

I have also used them and received the absolute best service and their packaging and protection can't be beat. I agree with the pricing seeming high but when you calculate driving time and transportation costs it turns out to be a good deal.

Honestly, unless you are willing to pick up the item yourself, C&F is the best option as they do a great job of packing and shipping. One is no good without the other, I mean what is the use of low price shipping if your washer arrives damaged? Even UPS shipping,will cause damage unless the item is packed well.
Only hitch is one has to make sure there is a C&F where the item is located. Most large cities have one or two C&F franchises, but smaller/rural areas might not. C&F's website allows one to search by location, and it is a good idea to find out if C&F serves the area before contracting to purchase an item.
Some fleaBay sellers will not have anything to do with shippers even if you make all the arrangements. Had one seller try to "mutually end" an eBay transaction because we arranged for C&F to pick up the washer instead of travelling down ourselves. Some stuff and nonesense about not wanting strangers in his home, guess he didn't see the irony of having us, persons he wouldn't know from Adam come into his home.
Final upside, C&F has lots of experience in moving major appliances, so they know all the tricks of the trade. When you factor in your time and costs, C&F probably comes out ahead of going to pick up the item in person.

C F did my dishwasher from Florida...and as Geoffdelp mentioned the crating was great. It was done up like a new item. However, they did NOT use peanuts on mine, it was all sheet stryofoam. Everything was bound tight. Even the paperwork arrived neatly. In addition, the guy taking my order was polite, and picked up my unit even before I had a chance to give him my credit card...he said he operates on trust. When the unit got here the guy had a pallet lift and an electric tailgate and took it right to my back house.
Could not have asked for better service.
