This showed up on the Cadillac & La Salle club forum Last week but I missed the deadline. It would be a major pain in the neck to make it fit my kitchen, but it would be a perfect match to my 1961 pink bathroom. It would also be the inside compliment to its contemporary in my driveway. In 57, GM owned Frigidaire, O'Keefe & Merritt would have been a competitor. Why would GM allow O’K&M to use the DeVille name and Cadillac Crest? I found Frigidaire electric ranges but no gas and I don’t know if O’K&M built electric ranges. Was this some kind of co-operative marketing agreement?

Lessee, the Hudson refrigerator is just down the street, the Cad DeVille range is about 25 miles away, I need to replace the Chrysler AC and find a Crosley dishwasher.

Tom, you might be onto something.  I don't think OK&M ever made an electric range -- although we recently saw a member acquire an OK&M combination washer dryer -- and I don't know if back then Frigidaire was making gas stoves.

It still seems odd that OK&M would be allowed to use the Cadillac crest.  Could it be slightly different from the real thing?

That De Ville was a steal at $69.

Quite frequently the name of an expensive car has shown up on other products. Off the top of my head, there was a Packard electric shaver and a Packard fountain pen, a Rolls twin-tub washer, and a Cadillac vacuum cleaner.

I think that even if a name is trademarked, you can't keep someone else from using it for a dissimilar product, such that it isn't likely to fool the purchaser.

Mine has the crest with the Vee below it, but it's not quite the Cadillac crest. I mean, DeVille wasn't exactly, um, copyright or trademarked, or else we wouldn't have the queen of fur herself.

I have this range in pink, too!!! Mine has two separate rotisseries and a shelf you can raise or lower. I got it at a local auction house for $80. It's still in storage but pristine condition.
