Signature Dryer Dashboard

Just picked up this lovely Wards Signature dryer — works great, but the dashboard is barely legible.  I have the matching washer and it’s in even worse shape (not the one you see to the left of the dryer — I already have a mint condition matching washer), although works fine as well.

 

Anyway, does anyone by any chance have a better-looking (and legible!) dryer control panel I could buy?  This is a Wards Signature exclusive 20-lb “Plus Capacity Dryer.”

Is that a Montgomery Wards positive air flow dryer? If you you clean it out and service it you wouldn’t Maine taking photos of what the inside looks like? Never seen one of these Montgomery Wards/Norge dryers taken apart and I’ve looked all over the archives to see one taken apart

Yes, it’s the Wards Signature version of Norge’s “fan jet” dryer.  The air flow is amazing and clothes dry quickly and come out soft and fluffy.  When you open the dryer door mid-cycle, the air sometimes pushes the clothes out as the fan stops.

 

I plan to take it apart and clean it — I was just so excited to see if it worked I had to plug it in and do a load of laundry!

I once owned one of these Signature positive air flow dryers. It was incredibly fast at drying. I would take it all apart twice a year to clean it as lint inside the whole appliance builds up quickly. It was very simple to disassemble and put back together.

Congrats on your wards signature washer and dryer finds! I’ve looked for a set of these for years to no avail. I picked up a mint washer in the late nineties but it sat so long in a shed it rusted down even though it had no rust when it was put there.
