The Mystery Hangs On
I have been emailing back and forth with my friend, whom I met at the Sunbeam service center in Seattle. Both of us are scratching our heads, his still has hair, and cannot come up with the answer. I had two in my time collecting. One I gave to a friend's mother and one I sold. I didn't have to repair either one, so I am a clueless advisor. Alex took Sunbeam appliances apart, all day, everyday of his life, for a living, until Sunbeam shut down their service centers.
We'll keep slouthing......
His reply:
I remember you always liked that model and I've kept my eye out for one since the days we hunted for such treasures. I remember working on one or two during my repairman days.
What I don't remember is the answer to your question. Was there a metal piece on the bottom that clamped onto the stand? Is it possible this comes off and the screws are underneath that? OOOH. Wait, hang on. I have my old Sunbeam schematics in the basement. Let me go look.
. . . later that morning. No, I found some service manuals, but nothing on mixers. I know I have another binder with some breakdowns and I'll look again after work. The only other place I can think of for the screws is underneath a sticker or decal. If there's any type of decal near the rear of the mixer, massage it with a finger tip to see if you can find round depressions where screws might be hidden.
