This is a newer brand at Wal-Mart. I have seen only the dishwasher tablets and fabric softener here at my local store. I have tried the dishwasher tablets and I like them very much. The only bad thing is their size. They're too puffy to place in most newer detergent cups/dispensers.

I tend to find the whole packet thing as a gimmick to sell more product. I like to do my own measuring depending on what I'm washing. After our recent move, we had room in kitchen cabinets for some dishes we had stored in the garage cabinet at our other house. All they needed was a light wash. No sense in wasting a whole packet on that.

Ralph, I agree with you. My home has a water softener. In this case I use half as much powdered detergent. Cutting a packet in half is a bit messy. I have used the packets from time to time, and with soft water, I have noticed sudsing when I opened to dishwasher to add an item.

I saw these a couple of weeks ago - interesting...

I don't like packets for the same reason (soft water) and that they are far more expensive than powdered detergents. They also tend to suds more in the machine, slowing down wash action.
