Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

The latest formula of Almat that I have (in the more concentrated boxes) has no issues with clumping, unlike the stuff I used last year which while fantastic I ended up having to dose in the drum in a ball "Arielator" style :)

In terms of quality of cleaning does anyone really notice a difference in say Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys or Morrissons colour liquids compared to Ariel colour? I mean they mostly contain the same quality ingredients and same concentration? Just paying for the name aren't you?

I have tried a few supermarket own brand products and have found the results ok, the one think I did notice though was some clothing started to "bobble", not something I have found with the main brands of detergent.

Almat

Yes, Aldi's Almat washes cleanly, but can and does clog / clump in my Panasonic's drawer. I have to make sure that the drawer is bone dry before pouring powder in.

I think that Almat doesn't rinse very cleanly at all: I find white, chalky tide-mark residues in the doorseal area after a cycle. There seems to be a lot of white zeolite type powder content.

Almat

Despite the fact that my Aldi s not IN town technically I had to walk about 1 mile out of my way to get some. When I arrived I was overwhelmed at the choice but chose colour as it suited me best. The only trouble is since using Almat I'm itching, eczema flaring up too. This probably is partly Almats fault but its most likely to be the poor rinsing our machine does in Quick Wash mode. I'm using normal washes now & I have found that I'm not itching as badly but might go to Aldi & buy some of the Non-Bio one as its dermatologically tested. I find that on the odd occasion it clums in the drawer but when this happens I pour some ht water into the drawer & this flushes it out.

For £2.99 a box it's not half bad!

I still use branded detergents though, love Daz (hence my username) & I also like Surf & Persil non-bio.

For towels I use a 2-in-1 type, found Sainsburys own lavender & jasmine. Excellent cleaning, very low On suds & works great for the softening/freshening part of it but don't like the fact that its nearly 30% bleaching agents!

Simply Pure

Hi Liberatordeluxe

I use Simply Pure and Simply Sensitive tabs -I buy them from Sainsbury's or sometimes in bulk 200 wash from their website directly. They are by far the best soft tabs - they don't foam and my washing machine never has any gunk or that sliminess on the rim. It is also great for my eczema. I would not bother buying other brands suggested on here like Ecover and Halo - just get it directly in bulk 100 wash £23.50 from the Simply Washing website. its true what you said re modern washing machines - there is not enough water in the drum to dissolve detergent so you need soluble measured doses like Simply tabs. The lady that said it streaked her clothes - I doubt it. I bet if you read the labels on those clothes it would ask you to turn the fabric inside out before washing because it is non-colour fast. You cannot bash a really good detergent for that.
