I had no idea we ever had full-sized American dryers under Australian branding. Were they locally manufactured? I only ever think of Simpson as the smaller wall-mounted units of the 70's and later. Anything this large was an import. You learn something new every day ...

They were made in Adelaide. Definitely not imported but yeah very similar to a Maytag. Great machines. I have one also!

Neat 70s dryer
Looks to be in great shape. Hopefully someone can save it, this dryer has zero similarity to any Maytag dryer I ever saw at least from the US. So I would be surprised if it had anything to do with Maytag.

These are nothing like a Maytag. It should be a perforated drum with a broiling element as far as Iām aware.

It really is a lovely example. It was a nod to Australian houses that the lint trap could be configured to vent into the room, or to be vented outside.
