I picked up an H-7 at a yardsale today.

Is it anything?

Looks OLD - prolly from the 20's or 30's...bakelite handle (possibly catalin plastic) with aluminum body - with dusting brush slid on the nozzel in so so shape. Needs a new bag sewn too.

Do I want to spend time on this unit?

Let me know please. And, of course, I can supply photos.

There was a time when several manufacturers made these vacs. I remember the Singer models from magazine ads in the 50s showing their model lineup when they were all brown. John has a Westinghouse. When he washed the bag, it mostly dissolved. Sounds like you found a treasure. Congratulations.

treasure or trash..hard to say

I have a Royal hand vac that I really enjoy using that's pretty old too.

This Singer, I'm sure, will even in it's best day not be much more than a display piece, and right now - BOY is it a scary lookin' piece. I'll show you a photo of it later. It just looks like it'd be sure to pop and smoke and electricute the operator instantly. And yet...it sure is cute....just needs a TON of TLC.

Hey...I acquired a really cool 1959 LaFayette tube stereo recently that really wails. I'll post about that in another thread...

I have two Royal "Prince" hand vacs-one came into the vac place here as a trade in-bought it right away.Beautiful machines-that dopey company that owns Royal now Discontinued the Prince hand vacs.If you want royal metal hand vacs-buy 'em as you see 'em-there won't be any more. The LaFayette Hi-Fi sounds cool-tell us other Hi-fi fans about it!Remember their catalogs. And I can remember when hand vacs were common-also have a GE one that a person at work gave me-neat machine-even has its orig "GE" bag!
