It is....
Probably not good for much, but unique, and I think it is Sears first portable, about 1950.

Oster made a two beater one speed mixer with the same motor that has a single blade on each spindle. The are great for whipping but the mixer gets warm if you're running it very long. The grip around the belly is also hard on your hands when mashing potatoes because of the steam. Many of the early machines had plastic that decompressed. Its great to find one in such pristine shape. The design of the blade is supposed to be great for whipping. You'll have to try it out and let us know.

Great find that is... me thinks it is an Oster made mixer. Not very ergonomic though without the handle, sort of a precursor of the stick blender

Speaking of the single beater/ stick blenders... I got this Bamix at the Habitat Restore a few weeks ago for $10 complete with the stand, the grinder, the beaker and the 4 different blades. It works well. I haven't tried the different blades though, just use it for mixing my protein shakes for now. They're made in Switzerland, maybe the first stick blender I don't know.. but they want an awful lot of money for one new. Even though it's really no better than less expensive ones.

That Sears mixer looks like a drink mixer-for shakes,malts, and such.
