About 4 years ago my sister bought a new Maytag HE toploader with a 4 yr extended warranty. Within two years she had numerous service calls to the point that they gave her a $700 credit towards a new machine. With that she bought yet another Maytag HE toploader, the one with "commercial technology" and here it is barely two years old and it's kaput. It was displaying the dreaded F06 code (communications error I think) and now the display doesn't even light up. She's been run through the mill trying to get through, as usual these days, having to repeat the same thing over and over to each person along the route, getting the call dropped on transfers etc, but has finally managed to get it through someones head to set up a service call within the next 36 hours. I'm imagining it'll be weeks now until they get a service rep over to their place and no doubt after the initial visit he'll not have the required replacement module and will have to order one, then setup another service call to install it.. Anyways, just venting on sis's behalf.. It only strengthens my resolve to never buy a whirlpool made product again. I've been searching local sites to see if I can find a cheap old washer to see her through but they're like hens teeth right now and the few that people are selling they're asking big bucks. Anyways , she's coming over tomorrow morning with some washing as she has to be in town for her covid shot. She can't come in the house, so we'll have to sit outside, hopefully it won't be snowing which it is just starting to of all things.. LOL

I believe AW user pulsator aka Jamie Jeffery works at Whirlpool and the reason he doesn’t post very much anymore is he’ll get complaints about the machines they design at Whirlpool.

New TL Washers

I would not buy any new TL washer today with the possible exception of a SQ [ even the SQs I would not have in my home ]

I currently have one 15YO and the new 6 month old SQs hooked up SXS while we put the finishing touches on the new laundry room, they work great fast and easy to use with any clothing damage.

As an appliance servicer we have constant problems with new TL machines, and GE and FD seem to be worse than the WP products.

She really liked the washer. It's a damned shame when a customer has to go through weeks of having no washer at least twice on one machine and then the same thing starts happening on its replacement and it's only been around 4-5 years. There's obviously some sort of quality control problem.
It's not even that the machine gets a lot of use,, there's only the two of them, retired and she's no laundry fanatic doing a wash everyday.

The equivalent Huebsh washers are unavailable due to supply problems. You say you would not have a top load washer in your house except maybe a Speed Queen. Do you have a front load machine in mind that is efficient, reliable and a good option for home use? I am looking to replace a very old machine in the next while before it leaves me stranded. I ask because you say you are an appliance servicer and I value the advice of the people who deal with these things on a regular basis.

rosie i would suggest the following

if you have to buy a washer i suggest you buy it now because of covid 19 there are delays in delivery, my mom and i had to replace a 3 year old dishwasher last year went with a bosch was back order exchange for 1 they had in stock and 3 weeks later after dishwasher was install had to be exchange took a good 4 months before we had a dishwasher here a link in case you went to check https://www.canadianappliance.ca/Washers-And-Washing-Machines-66/Washer-and-Dryer-Sets-215/

The suply chain

is catching up. Inventories were far lower at the height of the pandemic. Our state now has approx. 6.4 million of us vaccinated. The national goal is a minimum of 65%.
I suspect some price goudging just due to the stimulus money paid to us all.
I almost lost my breakfast today shopping. A chuck roast was $9.99 per pound. That's nearly double when on sale. Eating more chicken as ususal, and fish then.
