The guy never got back with me on the shaft size of the motor for that Ebay fan. Talked to friend who works on these to see what my other options are. This fan runs like a champ, the spin down is almost 30 to 40 seconds.

So the fan only has cosmetic problems?  Is that housing actually a bakelite type of material?  It sure resembles it.  I know that on the Classic Rotary Phones site a repair process for broken bakelite/thermoplastic was shared, and the before & after photos showed miraculous results.

No, it's most definitely a pot metal material. The guy I talked said that the "cure" didn't hold on these and this was common. You can actually chip away on it with your fingernail. He said that I could epoxy it, but I'm still concerned about the structural integrity of the entire assembly.

any brass parts ?

wondering if the fan blade is brass under the black paint-I have a ~1914 century fan that was originally painted black,but the fan was brass under the paint.a similar ~1920 century I have has steel blades.

@cfz

It's all steel, no bronze. While the motor cannot be properly restored, and the fan guy basically said that if it was left alone and not messed with, it should be okay, I do plan on the very least, repainting the blades and cage. The headwire has already been replaced.
