So what does everyone do for lunch here?

At work we have a cafe in the basement of our Long Island suburban (4-stories tall *LOL*) office building. [Uhm I used to work near the 80th floor of the Empire State Buidlngs! *LOL*]

Any hoo.....Today's specialty is fried chicken cutlet (looks like fish), with oven-roasted carrots and health salad (no lettuce and lots of carrots, onions tomato and celery.

I have been spared the usutal pasta and sausage. YAY!

What's on your plate?

Grilled "healthy" ham and no fat cheese on low fat bread. Gotta make up for last night's orange glazed pork chops, braised sweet/sour cabbage w/ apples and raisins, and baked potato.

Yeah, milk or buttermilk for lunch. That is what all my colleagues have. And it seems to be a typical Dutch custom. When a colleague from Spain was with us in Amsterdam he found that curious at first, but after a while he was doing it too and even took his new habit to Spain!

As for me, I don't like milk...

I do everything with yoghurt: spinach with yoghurt, beans with yoghurt, crisp bread with yoghurt, carrots with yoghurt, you name it. But milk... no way.

I wonder, do I have Mediterranean ancestors?

Nathan's hot dog on a slice of whole wheat bread, with home-made kimchee as a relish.

Washed down with home-brewed Columbian (coffee, that is).

OK, I gotta go cut up some bell peppers, celery, and carrots for a health salad, too.

Peanut butter

on a Honeycrisp apple, glass of milk.

JAR-red peanut butter is safe, it's the industrial/bulk sort that is questionable.

A few hours later, I had some Earl Grey tea and a bran muffin.

Yesterday.....

Pumpkin, cous cous, capscicum and currant salad and caesar salad...

Oh, for all the Americans (and others) out there....most Australians eat pumpkin and lots of it...

- Baked
- Roasted
- Boiled
- Mashed with potato....mmmmm

...and cooked in salad....yummmmm

yet we don't normally do pie with it.....erk

today

Szechwan chicken and hot tea in the company of a bright, skirted-suited wench. Because the day was forecast to be unseasonably warm, I scanned my fedora's and was about to grab the lighter grey, but saw, next to it, my medium grey Chicago center dent. Because I had breakfast with the mayor (Marriott, All-American Breakfast, eggs over easy), I was wearing a blue pin stripe with a vest (but brown shoes for fun). That being the case, I couldn't resist the center dent. It turned out to be a good choice - I received compliments.

Worked from home today. We went out to lunch to a new little Italian Pizzeria. Joan and I both had a salad with endive, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, red onions with balsami vinegar dressing, and a homemade Vegetable Soup with loads of garlic. This was the special. Not bad for $5.50.

This is a funny story in that this restaurant just opened, the the partners are NOT Italian, (German and Irish). The one gusy girlfiend is Chinese, and the cook is Puerto Rican. lol

But let me tell you....THe best Shrimp Parmigian, and also he made me a Shrimp Scampi Pizza that would knock your socks off. lol Also, there sauces are so good.
