I am sure there are people that got more, but this storm was something that is out of the ordinary for where we live-

The way the wind is blowing, it sounds like it wants to take the siding and maybe the bricks off the house. I don't think they are gonna catch the snow to measure it except where it hits something and stops in a drift. AND we have a Alberta Clipper coming through on Monday bringing more snow and wind.
Our Metro system is a sad joke. There has been no service beyond the underground stations since last Friday evening. It cannot operate on the outside tracks in more than 8 inches of snow and that is after years and years of modifications like putting a shield over the third rail, then adding heating cable to that to prevent the snow from packing between the shield and the third rail so that the shoe that transferrs power from the 750 volt rail to the train cars can ride on the third rail. They do have some diesel-powered track clearing equipment. The first dry, blowing snow uncovered another problem: The snow got pulled into the cooling air stream for the electronics, melted and caused electrical shorts. Those are the shortest shorts possible, very bright, often smelly and then nothing but a puff of smoke. So we have a system that does not work in what is becomming typical winter weather. The other part of the sad joke is that the trains operating in the underground sections of the system are only running at 35 mph and are serving platforms every 30 minutes. I wonder if it's only one train on each line running from one end to another. Sad for a world capital. 'Course, the Metro works better than the congress.
