Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Scott...

Did I look like you imagined..hahahaha
375 lbs wearing Spandex LOL

Looking at those pics is somewhat embarassing seeing as you're all afficianados. My iron filter needs recharging so I'm getting a lot of iron buildup in the washer and the bathtubs and sinks..I'm on my own well, the water is highly alkaline and saline with lots of minerals, but still safe and drinkable..however I have a reverse osmosis in the kitchen tap for drinking/cooking.

The drying comes next...One thing I'll never have again is a dryer with a lint filter on the top like this one..it's a dust lint tornado every time you pull it out, of course all over the top of the dryer.

Yep, very nice indeed to meet ya via pic. And now I have an even better vision of you ... a very hadsome, rugged man. And oh my, what courage to display ones drawers LOL.

Start the dryer before pulling out the lint filter. The little bit of dust that falls out of the lint screen wil be sucked into the slot and blown out the exhaust.

A laundry no-no

PeteK:

Judging from the expression on your face, you did a *mixed* load and washed undies with jeans. Tsk, tsk, tsk....now the tidy whities will have to be laundered again - with lots of Clorox!! ;-)

Mom

I wear NO whites lol. Don't have much white fabric in the house come to think of it. Clorox never..because I'm on a well and septic field can't risk a back up, gotta keep those septic tank germies alive and eating. I've never had a problem yet and never had the tank cleaned in near 15 years, works wonderfully, now my neighbors they use bleach and I've told them it's a no, do they listen, no, do they have to pump out their tanks, yes, have they all 3 of them had field problems, yes, and they still don't get it.

Hi Pete

I share that problem with my dryer which is a Kenmore. I keep a container of those wet wipes- Clorox, lysol, etc.- to wipe my machines off when all that dusty lint starts spreading around the tops. And it helps somewhat. Even with a lint screen cleaned regularly, the dryer vented with aluminum pipe to the outside and regular cleaning of the inside and mechanicals, I still get lint all over. Like your GE washer too. Saw it the other day on a post.

Hi Pete, great pictures, nice to put a face to the screen name. Since you're from Calgary is that washer a GE/Hotpoint or is a Viking? Also what color is the wash tub? It almost looks white!

Hi again, Pete

Great pics! Suddenly an alarm went off in my head. I noticed your 220 behind the dryer. I saw one like it once in Windsor Ont, when I was visiting my first wife's relatives. The Canadian 220 outlets look a bit different from the ones in the US. I thought you guys had the same electrical codes we did, but maybe not.

I thought they were the same as well, they are for 120v. That plug has 4 prongs, much like an oversized 3 prong 120v grounded plug but with a 4th sort of triangular shaped prong at the top side. I had heard once that Canadian ranges vs. the identical US model are required to have some sort of extra fuse or grounding added (meaning that if you buy one in the US and plug it in your insurance is voided..lol) That could in fact be what the difference is for 220v plug in and applies to dryers as well.. dunno.

different 220V plugs

Remember that the 220V plugs in the US can be either the older 3 prong (ground and neutral connected together) plugs or the newer 4 prong (ground and neutral carried separately) plugs. I suspect Canada allows ONLY the 4 prong type. Another thing Canada doesn't allow are the 120V 3 prong to 2 prong adapters that are used in the US, often without being properly connected to a ground.
