So I bought a washer - advice for installing it myself? Pick up tomorrow!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Washer = easy, Dryer = not

That's often the way things happen. The seemingly complicated machine install ends up going like clockwork, and yet the apparently simplest installation can be riddled with problems.

Could the dryer have been one of those 'seconds' (cosmetic damage goods)? Personally, I think some stock-centre warehouses are a little on the rough side when dispatching goods to the stores.

Just make sure that the dented side is not rubbing on the drum as it turns.

And it should be possible to obtain another adjustable foot from the manufacturer.

But as Eddie says, complain to the store first.

LG

If I read right, you bought the LG washer. I also bought a LG fairly recently. Mine has Turbo washer, and steam. You will find that it is better to leave the turbo wash feature on all the time. it ensures better saturation of the clothes. The steam is great for stains, as well as the Sanitary cycle is great for homes with sick folks. I use the sanitary cycle for my whites, set on extra hot, and they come out exceptionally white. Hugs,

Just an update...

I’m LOVING the LG 3770! So far the cycles are much shorter than the older LG from a few years ago.

Thanks above for the advice on normal cycle. I used sanitary on a couple loads today. I had also tried normal but bumped water to hot or very hot; I don’t remember.

I’m not a fan of the quick wash from my older machine. Stuff NEVER got clean but I did read the whole manual last night and learned the express wash is only for 2-3 items? I used to use it for everything.

So today I did a long wash probably normal with hot water, used 2 tablespoons tide (not turbo but does say HE) and two tablespoons Biz. The water was sudsy during the rinse cycle. Did I use too much? Must have. I was able to pause the machine and add a second rinse.

I wish this thing had a light! I sat on a stool shining my phone flashlight into it - smoke colored porthole glass. I only noticed two turbo wash sprayers working. Also can I do sneakers in this? What setting for the odorous insoles?

The dryer - wow someone mentioned “tinny” and I thought it was a misspelling. Nope. This thing is loud. My kids are noticing. BUT it dries a ton and seems plenty fast. I do have to slam the door to shut it. It sounds like a tin can in use. But so far it’s keeping up with the washer. I’m doing triple the size loads I was doing in the SQ top loader.

To someone above: I don’t know what’s was up with the dryer but my big box stores all had “out of stock”. Best Buy said may get more third week of August but I decided to try to save a little money and not worry about the aesthetics. Not sure still if I did the right thing.

Here are some pics from yesterday.

Here is the dent - not big but irritating to me. Also the unpainted rusty spot. And the foot. I’m going to call BB tomorrow but the box was in perfect condition. It had to have been packed at the factory like this.

No matter what it says

on the backsplash, Maytag is now a division of Whirlpool. That is a Whirlpool designed dryer, and they are usually a favorite in these parts.

I understan that you needed a dryer, and it's cool, but I think you should put it on Craigslist when you have confirmed that the matching dryer is in stock.

Furthermore, if you keep the Maytag dryer, you won't be able to have the 2 on 2 laundry room you were talking about. However, if you have changed your mind about that, do try to get satisfaction from BestBuy.

I’m thinking I’ll sell it and get the LG eventually. DH is not going to believe it lol! I’m not sure I’ll need the stacking now with this capacity and my teens slowly moving out for college and careers. My family at home is shrinking!

But I almost wonder if lg is replacing the model. Now I can’t get it at B.B. either.

Oh my!

well, I suppose most things have a time, place, and purpose. I'm certain that WP dryer didn't leave the Marion or Findlay Ohio plant dented like that. I think Clyde only assembles washers.
Seems the retailer or delivery expediter needs counseling on some type of etiquette. They may have even dropped it causing mechanical damage.
Poor baby.
Counseling can be good, so they don't end up left on unsuspecting door steps, or worse?
At times, I may be off topic, but at least try not being rude. Common sense and logic have their places as well, and can avert some division of school of thought.

Melissa,

My Maytag dryer is the model just under yours, the difference being that yours has moister sensors to defect the level of dryness, mine has a thermo sensor. And I might add I replaced my LG dryer with this Maytag. In all honesty, I like the Maytag much better. It drys faster and more accurately, never any damp items left when the dryer cycles off using the Auto Dry. The LG took longer and had way more settings than I would have ever needed or used.

So, if you can get a fair discount for the damage, and you don’t mind having a mismatched set, you may want to consider keeping the Maytag, if you are happy with its performance.

Lastly, I totally agree with you. The comment made earlier by another member about Family Planning was rude and uncalled for. The size of your family is your choice. You have every right to be offended, and I’m sorry that this comment was made, you didn’t deserve it.

Thanks for the input. Snarky comments about family size are kind of surprising given the public outcry today against online prejudice... but I have pretty thick skin and know that not everyone has a "filter" in place so to speak ;) . It's okay - I guess I also might resent someone who has umpteen children and is supported by my taxes. I hope my family is giving and serving though, not sucking at the government teat lol. My younger children are well-behaved and respectful. My older kids are already involved in medicine, politics, missions, research, and I hope they'll continue to be blessings to others. I do have more teens and 20-somethings than I mentioned! :) They don't all live in my home though - some have flown the nest.

Back to the reason I came here... I am getting ready to go to Best Buy and speak to the manager of my local store and show him the pictures and ask for a discount... The machine DOES dry nicely. I will admit I'm a perfectionist and hate paying $600 for something that's not factory-perfect! And I'm trying not to care about appearances. I like the accu-dry feature and NEVER used any of the extras when I had an LG. Actually the steam function was pitiful and left wet spots on clothes.

I'll lyk what he/she says!
