But, not that Vista... Gosh, I'm a Mac person.
Vista..? Feh!

This lovely Sunbeam Vista Radient Control Toaster.

I just happened to be perusing CraigsList, and entered "Sunbeam".
And I happened upon this... the seller even delivered it!

Behold:

BIG YAY for NIB Toasters!!!

....Now, whether to use it, keep it MIB, or give it to my mother for a wedding present in July... That is the question.

Keep it all in tact

Put the paper in acid free folders ( I can send you some if you don't have any). Do not use ink pen to write on anyting, use pencil. Never use plastic to store paper in, it causes a micro-climate to evolve and introduces an acidic inviroment to the paper.

Very nice machine in mint condition. Keep it. Keep it in the right conditions. It's beautiful.

"Ugh, I'm still drooling."

so am I...!!!

Where did you find the toaster? That is an amazing find!
Good for you Fred!! =)

Nice toaster! I would give it to your mom as a wedding gift, if she would enjoy it. That would make a very unique gift.

Toast Rises Silently--No Popping or Banging - Love that!

Oh God Fred, that's gorgeous! You know how I have a weakness for MIB 50 year old appliances. I say keep it and make toast :)

Fred that is just a fantasitc find!! I am so happy for you. By all means I think the toaster should be used. You know your mom well enough to know if she would really appreciate this or would rather just have a new one. But as I said before it really should be used.

Last week Greg sent me a Sunbeam Vista Coffeemaker. He know how much I love having a different one to use from time to time. Not new in box but it sure hadn't been used much. I love this pot, makes great coffee and really fast. 1080 watts of power. YAY for Sunbean.

That is a great idea Greg! I never thought about that. Lots of people do collect old chrome toasters. There is a guy in Fort Wayne that has hundreds of toasters.

Geeez..? What kind of wierdos collect toasters?? I mean...of all the things one could collect--toasters. Hmm. That's a new one, for sure. ;-)

Suds-- We've all gotta have our secrets, don't we.

Fred...

What a fabulous find! Lucky you. Congrats. It must have been hard to contain your glee when it was delivered to you. Wow!

I vote that you keep it and use it. I'm all for sharing. And, giving it to your mom is a nice idea. But will she have the same appreciation for it that you do?

Enjoy.

Mike

The guy that bought mine was from Iowa and initially after winning the auction was going to fly his plane to Omaha to pick it up! He made several plans that ended up being canceled due to high winds and snow storms so I ended up shipping it via FedEx. He said he'd bought several NIB toasters on ebay and had them wrecked in shipping so it better to pick them up in person. Can you imagine the fuel cost for even a short hop to Omaha?

Great find. I love original packaging, not just for the collectablility but I find all of the little extras to be fascinating: warranty cards, adverts for other products, etc. My aunt and uncle received one of these toasters (controls on the end, not on the side) as a wedding gift in the late 1940s. They have used it every single day since with no problems. I have two, in so-so shape but they work.

Surprised that frozen waffles and pancakes were common back

Well, the frozen waffles were the leftover waffles you made with your Sunbeam Wafflemaster. :-) I've tried freezing them, and reheating them with my Sunbeam toaster. They're a fantastic, quick breakfast or snack!! Kind of like an Eggo, but different.
