So, now the Inglis dryer is acting up??

AAARGH!! I couldn't believe it! I had to dry a load of towels 'cause it was raining in Ogden, so I threw them into my trusty Inglis dryer....

And darned if the son of a gun wouldn't start... The heater came on but the drum just wouldn't turn. I heard a buzzing sound, so I stopped the machine. I tried to turn the drum, but it seemed stiff. AAAAARGH!! I fear the motor has gone on me, too... First the washer, now the dryer! Guess I am glad I don't have any Inglis dishwashers... LOL

Umm, shouldn't it *not* heat if the motor doesn't run, assuming the element circuit runs through the motor start switch? Or does this model not have that safety feature?

I don't think it had a safety cut-off - IIRC the only cut-off to the heater on this model is the belt switch...
I have a horrible feeling it's the motor, but I suppose after 44 years of regular use, that is almost to be expected!!

44 years old put that dryer in a limbo in time where it could be the old belt-drive blower design, or the fixed bulkhead design, as least that applies here in the U.S.

I know availability has not always been the same in Canada as the U.S. on certain WP designs, but if your dryer has the fixed bulkhead and direct-drive blower, then I wouldn't be too concerned about a motor, at least not as mechanically capable as you are. The older design with the belt-drive blower might pose more of a problem finding a good motor.

Gordon, he has the bulk head sype dryer... I actually talked to him yesterday about it and other things.
