Our Airstream

I mentioned our '62 Airstream in my previous post. Dennis and I dumped a ton of money into this thing and then, didn't enjoy it as much as our other trailers. Oh, well. We had to try an airstream

Airstream Trailers-used as broadcast mobile units

At the workplace I work at they used to have an Airstream Mobile unit(not a trailer but a RV type vehicle)that had a complete broadcast studio in it.It toured the US and made broadcasts from it to other nations. Was very Cool.I only worked on its equipment a few times. Then one sad day it was being used-The engine in it blew and the agency didn't want to spend the money to replace the engine. So the vehicle was towed back to the headquarters in Wash DC where I worked. It sat out in front of the building for awhile.Than the decision came from manangement to strip the equipment from the vehicle and the vehicle was scrapped.I was one of the ones to remove the equipment and refurbish it.That poor shiney airstream vehicle meant a lot to some of the other guys that I worked with-They drove it over the nation and operated its equipment-and had many adventures to tell.I came too late to do that. When I saw the picture of the Airstream vehicle it reminded me of the Voyager. That was its name.

Well it looks like everyone has so much in common

Let's see, My main interest right now is probably the kitchen which I'm sure everyone has figured out! I don't really collect one certain thing per say. I collect what I need to finish a project, no matter what it is. Like Kromex, but now that's complete and I'm done. I generally stay at home and work on something all the time. That's my passion (work) I know it sounds crazy but that's what I like. I think if you create a certain vibe to live in then your life is a lot more peaceful.
I own a Hair Salon and that's my trade. Not my passion! I would much rather go to work with my husband. It is a lot harder work for sure but I like to learn everything. The past eight years I have learned how to lay block, brick, stone, pavers ect. He has taught me framing, roofing, and drywall. You name it and I've probably done it! I have to say he fights me on it all the time though. To dangerous he says. The way I look at it stay fit and get a tan, plus get something accomplished.
I love my animals! I have a Puppy named Marley May and a cat named Bud. A pair of cardinals named Lucy and Ricki. A pair of morning doves named Fred and Ethel.I can't forget the squirrel's Chip and Dale. Yes I do name everything!
Christmas around here is a passion. I love Christmas! Seven trees are going up! Yes I did say seven. I told you guy's I was a freak. They all match the room that they go in. That's a must, everything has to match! I love to be able to walk into any room and sit down and relax. It's a lot of work but worth it.
I love camping also. I see some other members do too! I don't like to read unless I'm learning something! I love quilts! There on every bed in the house. I wished I had the talent for making them like some of the other members!
Let's see. My hubby plays in a band also. So if he's close I'll go watch. That's about the only time that I go out. I love to cook! We never eat out! Maybe twice a year! One of my brothers is a french chef and has taught me a bunch!
Before you guy's think I'm really off my rocker I'll shut up!

Bethan, your not crazy your passionate about so many things. We too go all out for Christmas. We have 12 trees and they all have themes to them. I work for a subsidiary of Hallmark cards so 95% of the ornaments are Hallmark, I have software that I use to keep track of them for us and some of the relatives. Our master bedroom is all done in a snowman theme, My daughter has Starwars, cartoon tree and a Tree dedicated to her passion of Braodway shows. Our family room big tree is dedicated to Disney, I have cooking ornament on my tree in the kitchen. OUr living room has a tree deicated to the Whitehouse and First ladies. and the big tree has many of the Hallemark series and Light and Motion ornaments. We start decorating these tree the first week in NOvember and it takes about 2-3 weeks to finish. We have over a 1000 Hallmark ornaments, we found that there is a very large secondary market for them and some onrnaments the we paid only $4 for are now worth over $100. There is a Star Trek Enterprise that sold for under $20 that is now worth over $300. I also love to cook and bake. I do Wedding cakes as a hobby and collect cook books and cake pans. My dream is to quit my Pc Support managers job and become a pastry chef.

Nice pics of everybody's stuff! I have a new digital camera so I'll take pics of my "Coasteriana" and my small 70s hi-fi collection. I also have some 50s tube in my house. 1959 Zenith console TV, 1950 Emerson Radio+Phono, 1958 Hallicrafters multiband radio. Those little radios are powerhouses and has a great sound for AM.

Hopefully a Seeburg 222 or DS160 will take residence in my home. There are quite a few jukes I've fallen for. A Rock-Ola Rhapsody currently on ebay got my drooling lately.

Besides washers and mechanical stuff, I love anything vintage that makes music.

Star Trek

I have all of the Star Trek ornaments including the first issue. I even have the miniatures that came out, I think, the second year. We have a separate tree in our dining room that is all trek.

Asides from appliances;

* The concept of laundry itself (ironing, folding, different linens, hanging out etc)
* Architecture & designing buildings - I'll be studying this at university and will hopefully become a good architect :-D
* Home decorating and interior design
* Shopping (I'm terrible now I've got my first debit card!)
* Video gaming - I'm an avid PS2 fan, although I'm afraid my PS2 is currently broken, but getting a new one for Christmas :-). Also am a Sims Junkie when it comes to the PC, and another favourite of mine being RollerCoaster Tycoon (Jason, do you play this by any chance? :-D).
* Rollercoasters/theme parks
* Car washes (another thing in common Jason!). I've always loved the car wash since I was a kid, although when I was a toddler they used to make me cry!
* Electronics - the second favourite things in my room apart from my AEG washer and dryer is my Sony entertainment system (although the TV is only 14"). Unfortunately the only thing that doesn't match is my Aiwa stereo and my Sega Dreamcast.
* Cooking (although I'm not very good!)
* Kitchens - designing them, different layouts, different trends etc. I like a traditional-yet-contemporary styled kitchen
* Computers/Internet - one of my weak spots is Instant Messaging, I'm signed up to all 3 (MSN/Yahoo/AIM) and I find them very very distracting, not very useful for when I'm meant to be studying lol. Me and Louis are often seen doing "cyber laundry" too - using my webcam and microphone I often do "Laundry Live" sessions with him. Of course, if there's any more interested, then feel free to email me :-).
* The good old Aussie soap Neighbours! I've been a devoted fan since my early years, and I'm hooked on it 24/7!
* Television presentation - TV graphics, credits, opening titles etc, especially for news, interests me.
* My local news programme Look North - again I've been a devoted viewer since my early years, and hopefully will be, as long as I live in Lincolnshire anyway!
* Cleaning (nothing more than a good old vacuum through or sparkling bathtub!)
* Some elements of gardening
* Sports: cycling, swimming, walking etc
* Music: Cher's my idol (of course), but I also like most music except for pop. I even like the odd dance track or too. 80's songs are also one of my favourites, and the best song of all has to be Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights. I believe Louis if I remember correctly you've also had the pleasure of me singing this on an audio session on Yahoo Messenger, lol!
* The Paranormal - our house has some sort of resident from the other side, which has got me interested in paranormal activity. In fact you may notice that sometimes on my photos even little orbs of light (telltales of a haunting) come up on them. Scary, eh?
* And, of course, I had to mention this, men are a very keen interest of mine too ;-).

I think that's about my list, lol.

Austin,

Your bedroom looks great! I wish I could be a neat freak like you, I love it when my bedrooms so tidy. Unfortunately I'm often so busy to be able to tidy my room, although I do give it a good tidy-up twice a month or so. I'm 16 too... I bet my mum wishes that I was as tidy as you. Of course, most of my time is spent cleaning the rest of the house because my mum is at work full time, and the rest of my family are lazy sods, especially my siblings. So it has a knock on side effect on me having to live in an untidy room :(. Although it's not too bad - my sisters bedroom has about 2ft of crap piled on the floor, and the door can only just open so that she can squeeze through. I tell you, if, god forbid, there's ever a fire in our house, her bedroom would be up in a puff! Anyway I've attached a pic of my bedroom - your bedroom really puts me to shame Austin, I feel guilty now :-(.

Take care guys,

Jon

BTW the webshots album links to my electronic equipment. Also photos on there of both my Bosch and AEG sets, my AEG dishwasher, and even some photos of me!

Cool--I'm into the paranormal as well. Since my house is from '67 it's too new to have an "otherworldly" resident, but I did snap this picture while I stayed at the historic Gunter Hotel in San Antonio, built in 1903. In the 60's a young blonde woman in her 20's was the victim of a grisly murder in room 636. The manager at the nearby Menger worked as a bellman at the time and he shared the details with me. There was a large amount of blood, and there was no option but to renovate the room and change the layout (it is a large room and it's obvious by looking at it from the outside). Her ghost is often seen outside the room. Didn't see or "feel" anything, except for this orb here. BTW there are other spirits in the Gunter as well that I wasn't aware of until I contacted the guy at the Menger.

That would be great if I had a Skinni-Mini or Spacemates set in my room, but I would have to give up my '83 Zenith console and large IKEA desk, and who knows what my parents & friends would think...

Jon, you're here! Are you just stopping by now? Great to see you! I see you have gotten your dryer and have your units stacked. Very nice! Hope you are enjoying them!

Lavamat Jon 80's music!

Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush. What a song and what a film clip! My sister was so taken by this film clip, she would put the Kate Bush tape on (the Kick Inside) and a red dress and a flower in her hair and perform the whole dance routine for us! I wish it was on video but I do have photos...

I collect vinyl records. I love the format kids today are missing out on so much i think. The impact of those huge album covers, the excitement of purchasing it in the shop and carrying it around. Then you take the huge black disc out of its cover and put it on the turntable and put the needle on it. You are completely involved. MP3s just are not the same.

Now i have discovered ebay and I am filling the holes in my vinyl collection ;) I am a huge fan of Human League (and Joanne Catherall in particular, my favourite Leaguer) and Ultravox, both definately my favourite 80's bands.

I also love Heart and the Wilson sisters.

Any other 80's fans on the board?

Neighbours

How far are you behind in Neighbours Jon?

The final episode for the year goes to air tonight.

Interesting times ahead for the Bishop family if you want to know and I also want to know how the Bishops Philips top loader from the mid 80's copes with all the washing from the extended family living there.

Austin,

My house is fairly new too - was built in the 1960s. However the story goes that our housing estate is built on the site of a former manor, and a lot of the houses in the area have strange goings on. My bed often starts shaking at night, and on some occasions my bed has actually levitated off the ground. You also get tapped on the shoulder and nobody is there, hear footsteps in the attic, and things moving about in the attic, and have even had objects thrown at me! Also sometimes get scratch marks in the night... I have a scratch on my right hand that I woke up with yesterday morning. I've lived here for nearly 7 years now though, so I have gotten used to it, and I just let it get on with what it wants to do. BTW, my parents thought I was crazy getting a washer and dryer in my room, but I think my mum secretly was pleased with it because it meant I would finally stop hogging the washer and dryer downstairs! My family are OK for it, of course I often get the teasing that my family sometimes gives me, but otherwise they're fine, and I couldn't care less what they thought anyway. And my friends... well I'm crazy anyway, and it came to no surprise to them!

Scott -

Yes, I'm here... I've not posted that much recently, although I've posted a fair bit more on THS. Currently researching new dishwashers for our kitchen renovation in May, and have been enquiring about the dishdrawers over on THS (btw Dadoes I believe you have answered some of my questions there - thanks again :-D).

Arroooh -

I don't know the dance properly, but I've draped a white sheet over myself before and pretended to be Kate Bush at a party. Lets just say I had drank a few, lol.

BTW, do you often watch the Fox News Channel Austin? We get that on Sky (digital satellite) over here, I sometimes watch Fox & Friends while flicking through, although it's on here about 2pm rather than 8am as it's intended to be due to the time zones.

Best wishes to all,

Jon

Arooh,

We're about 6 weeks behind I think, Susan and Karl have just got divorced, Max has told Steph that he doesn't feel he can give her what she wants (a baby) and has offered to let her go, and Sky has got a lesbian after her. I've heard rumours though that the coffee shop goes bang and some well loved cast members die... Now is it me or how many explosions have there been at Lassiters over the past 19 years or so?? It seems that it is a very combustible area!!

Our season finale tends to air at the beginning of February, that also seems to be when they put new titles/credits up, although I like the Picasso ones they have at the moment :-).

John Waters Movies?

Heart has been one of my favorites for almost 20 years. I just picked up their new CD, Jupiters Darling, a few weeks ago. Ann Wilson's voice is the best.

I also love John Waters movies!! I could be in the worst of moods, and they just crack me up. An actress named "Mink Stole" is in several of them, back to the '70s, and she's absolutely hilarious.

P.S. I'm not new to this site, just changed my screen name.

Pete
