I have one of those Thetford porta-potty chemical toilets which I want to use for a few days but I don't have the chemicals. I was just reading an Australian caravan forum and most people use stuff called "Napisan". They say this is sodium percarbonate. Caravans are not popular here in Hungary so I'm unlikely to find specialist products but is there any laundry product such as Vanish that I could use to improvise the chemical toilet chemicals?

Thanks for the suggestion. I have actually ordered a German product, Enders Ensan Blue, 5 litres. I hope there's no mistake as I appear to be getting free delivery from Germany to Hungary. The only problem is Amazon are quoting 7 to 21 working days for delivery!

The parcel came today so a bit quicker than expected. Total cost was 13.90 Euros so a lot cheaper than the Thetford stuff.

People in Oz have avoided using the chemicals en mass....several of them may neutralise the odour, but they are from the same family as formaldehyde....

The use of Napisan or cheaper version assists breakdown whilst also neutralising odours, making it much more environmentally friendly to dispose of.

Napisan is used to whiten and

kill germs in nappy/diaper pails before regular washing I am not sure but I have an idea that Borax may be a similar ingredient ??
Used to have a "porta potti" in our caravan and that used Elsan blue it had a pleasant perfume to it.
