Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

It seems to have alkaline detergent as the blue liquid, with the yellow liquid being the enzyme cocktail.

Red liquid seems to be the rinse-aid.

White triangular section is an air-freshener.

Cool, but strikes me as a solution in search of a problem. Dosing a dishwasher is hardly complicated. Put tab in dispenser - close door.

I wonder how this will work in practise. Surely one of of the compartments will be depleted before the others?

You'll probably find people trying to refill the compartments themselves, to save money.

It reminds me of the tri-colour inkjet printer cartridges... one colour always seemed to run out long before the others. And folk refilled those too.

I remember that Lever had Sun All-in-One tablets, with a miniature bottle of rinse-aid in the box. I was never convinced that that was a terribly good implementation either.

Saw this several weeks ago. There's an app (of course) where you have to tell it how dirty your dishes are. Despite having multiple chambers there is no bleach in there, so when you have tea mugs etc. in the dishwasher, Pot Cleaning has to be chosen from the app. And even then it sounds like tea might not be removed.

I'm pretty sure this will vanish just like that finish auto-dispenser.

Pass.

Interesting, however as was said above, it's bound to happen that one compartment will empty before the others. A dirtier load may use a bit more detergent, but will probably use the same amount of rinse aid! Maybe they're betting on the law of averages?

About a year-and-a-half ago I saw a prototype for the Miele auto-dosing (PowerDisc) Gen 7 d/w. I wasn't impressed. Now they're on the market and I'll be wondering how popular the PowerDisk will be where it only lasts for about 20 washes.

Funny- on the website where it shows the accessories for the Gen 7 dishwasher below that machine's description it shows a set of the PowerDiscs being available as well as the standard UltraTabs. It claims the UltraTabs give the "best cleaning results in Miele dishwashers." Do these PowerDiscs not clean as well as the UltraTabs?

Things that make you go hm-m-m-m-m!

The PowerDisc system is basicly just Miele powder in a different form factor.

And, you know, if you make it a 3 color gimmick, give it some bleach for gods sake.

Miele's system is at least fully adaptive and if you wish so fully integrated.
One app that allows you to monitor machine, detergent and order it as well.

With something like a scheduled remote start like Mieles app offers washing dishes isn't really a thing anymore.

The idea is that instead of every now and then running a load, adding this doing that you just unload the dishwasher every day at the same time and you swap out the disc like every 2 weeks or so.

The dishwasher "runs itself", quite literally.

Here you have sub par cleaning, takeing up space and one more thing to worry about with batteries and a seperate app.

Not much benefit there...

"And, you know, if you make it a 3 color gimmick, give it some bleach for gods sake."

Quite.

According to the ingredients, there is no bleach. So, an 'epic fail' from the start. How are tea and coffee stains supposed to be removed?

What is the problem with detergent companies these days...? They all seem to have suddenly developed an aversion to bleaches in their products.

As Jamiel, above, mentioned Finish 'Quantumatic', that had a compressed tablet (more like long fingers) carousel system - with bleach in the composition. I used it, but found moisture contaminated the next few shots.

Regarding the compartments possibly emptying at different rates...
Here's a review I found from the Somat Smart site:

"No need to add powder or tabs - remaining rinsing cycles are displayed
I would like to be able to refill the individual chambers separately - because I do not use all the agents at the same time, depending on the cleaning level".

Jerome.

Oh, but they do! Miele introduced TwinDos in the US about 2+ years ago, earlier in Europe. Detergent and optical brightener are dispensed at the optimal time, in the optimal amount for the cycle/soil level you've chosen.

Personally, I don't like the smell of the detergent that was available at that time but I understand from the website that a sensitive version is now available. People I know who have the TwinDos say it does a great job.

TwinDos works pretty well.

The sensitive version is pretty low scent / no scent. The standard version's scent also improved dramatically. It just smells like laundry detergent to me now. The first versions had a quite odd perfume that faded to a smell I didn't like - found it a bit bitter.

The current version has a pretty light scent.

I only ever used their dryer fragrance 'flacons' a couple of times and found them a bit overpowering.

They've a version called "Refesh Elixir" which I assume is more scented. It for some reason is not available on their Ireland store, which makes no sense as the European machines are all exactly the same and the approvals are the same and it's all direct shipped from a warehouse in Germany to here anyway.

Just seems bizarre not not make it available across all the EU markets at the same time, if you're shipping it from the same warehouse!
