Well, the RR-2 thread went over like a lead balloon, so how about some blenders? I scored both of these last month and finally got around to giving them both a good cleaning. Normally I'm not a big H-B fan but this thing has some real style!

The Oster is interesting too- It's early enough to have a solid chrome ring for the pitcher, but late enough for Oster's very distinctive cursive script. Also note the three different speed Pulse buttons...

I'm not a HB fan either, but couldn't have resisted that space age styling.

As stated in my Lady Kenmore blender thread here in Super, I've become a big fan of Osterizers.  That one you scored is a real beauty, complete with the atomic accent on the panel.  Outfit it with an ice crusher blade and it will likely out-perform any other blender you have.

Here's a shot of the fairly budget model Dual Range 8 I got at the thrift store recently for $5.  It had the food chopper/processor attachment on it instead of a carafe (and that's what I bought it for), but I've since found a carafe for it and have it poised for use behind the patio bar.

I've developed an appreciation for the heavy '60s Osterizers with all metal housings.  They sure did produce a wide range of models with varying features.

Looks like a plastic carafe on the HB.  I don't think I've ever seen a HB with a glass carafe.

Too bad.  That HB above would be all the more impressive if it had a nice glass carafe.

No joke, it's a plastic carafe yet the threaded chrome base retainer must weigh in at 5 lbs!

Interesting Dual-Range. Is that avocado or a cream? Mine must be a bit earlier... Honestly, the number of Oster variations is endless!

I am starting a new meal plan that includes sever protein shakes a day and it got me wanting a new blender. My mid 60s Osterizer Classic VIII is in rough shape, and I don't want to use my gold plate Osterizer Cyclomatic 50th anniversary daily.

I had considered picking up a Pulse-Matic just like the one at the beginning of the thread, until I came across this lovely Commercial Osterizer, now I can't decide which I want

Cory, my Dual Range is yellow.  Maybe Oster's version of chiffon yellow?  I like the shade, and it does seem to have the slightest bit of green in it, but it's definitely not avocado.  The camera captured the color almost exactly (on the right side in the picture).

I like the look of your Dual Range much better though!

Sam, that's a man's blender if I've ever seen one.  Nice score!

some nice blenders there.....

by chance, would the glass from an Oster fit the screw on blade assembly of the HB?....

just curious if some things may be interchangeable....

Always reach for Hamilton Beach! I have had lots of success with HB.older mixers, their Brew Station coffee makers and I just bought a new coffee maker that is not only a twelve cup drip section but also has the K cup option. Works well was not cheap thow $139 @Target.

I, too, have often wondered which, if any, other brands had bases that were threaded to match Mason jars.  This feature on the Osterizer is one thing I absolutely love.

There are/were glass HB jars and they should fit mason jars as well. They had a line of small plastic jars like the Osters and a mini chopper accessory too. It's pretty much impossible to collect every Oster model made because they continually changed them by reaching into the parts bin. I gave up long ago. The commercial models 3 prong grounded, were mostly sold at fairs, expos, home shows etc.. and pricey. We bought one new back in the mid 80's and paid close to $200 back then. It had a glass jar and a stainless steel cocktail type jar. I found another last year at a thrift store,, slightly different buttons but a plastic jar and about $5. Here's some of them I've got quite a few more than this though. There's a couple of Kenmore versions in there and I think an Eatons, they made versions for nearly all the big chains as well as the hard to find centrifugal juicer. Then there's the Sunbeam versions. Sunbeam bought out Oster in the late 50's or early 60's so quite a few are very similar.

Wow Pete, that's quite a collection!

Any idea on the vintage of this Waring model FC?  I thought my 700-B was an early model, but it appears the FC is older.  Searching on line hasn't produced any information on production runs for Warings or Osters.

I'm not sure when those rocket ship models came out but I always figured mid to late 50's.. they brought them back 8-10 years ago for a short while and I snagged one at a thrift store for peanuts. I haven't come across an original like that though. I've got plenty of Warings as well not all shown here and

Well, I thought my old 700B was the original Waring design -- sort of their version of Oster's beehive, although it reminds me more of an Xmas tree -- and dated back at least to the 1940s.

Then I saw on on ebay a 700A, identical to my 700B, NIB never used, and the literature that came with it was dated 1959.

I have an owner's manual/recipe book for the "rocket ship" style Waring I posted above, and the copyright dates in it range from 1940 to 1947.

So now I'm thinking the "rocket ship" or FC model is closer to the original Waring.  The plate behind the switch on the one above looks very art deco.  I've seen others like that one, but they have a cloverleaf shaped plate behind the switch.

I'm surprised there's nothing on line about blender production timelines.
