Some older Australian cooking appliances...

Here's the free standing StGeorge ranges

That's all I am going to link to as far as images are concerned. The other stuff can be explored by clicking on the links, but it's not that interesting to me. The older, truly Australian stuff was what I wanted to show off. Everything else is pretty generic, contemporary European.

I remember quite a number of years ago one of the larger Calgary appliance showrooms sold St.George ovens and cooktops and Smeg dishwashers.. I don't remember any free standing units on display.. They were aimed at the well heeled citizenry which we weren't part of LOL
Those raised oven/stove units are especially nice looking I think. They didn't have those either.

Wow, what is that? Old new stock?

Most of it is old stock. Stuff from the 70s, 80s and nineties. The website belongs to an appliance repair business here in Sydney and they are advertising an extensive spare parts range. Obviously this is in response to increasing consumer demand for spare parts to keep their older units working. Even here people are coming to the realization that new doesn't always equate with better and why throw something away if it can be repaired to work for another decade and look good as well. A bit of retro thrown in with modern can make for a pleasant aesthetic.

I recall StGeorge shipping their stuff to Canada, but that was such a long time ago. They were always considered high end over here as well and people tend to hang on to their StGeorge units. One doesn't see a lot of the older (from 50s to 80s) StGeorge stuff advertised on ebay. If they are they get snapped up pretty quickly.

StGeorge isn't the original company anymore. I have no idea if they even manufacture cooking ranges in Australia. It would appear that their stock is now sourced from abroad.

Anyway, go figure!

Here in Italy there was a brand SanGiorgio that translates exatly in Saint George! Sadly now is just the name that Fagor slaps on its Italian market appliances! (very poor quality!)

The cooktops......

Some of them look like Moffat ones we had over here- wonder if there is a Thorn Domestic Appliances connection....
