Well, I pretty much knew what happend to ALL the LG's that exploded after the first one.
There had been a video on YouTube where you can see the fault it self, but I can't find it anymore.
What was wrong was the whole kind of spin cycle they programmed on the E-Boards.
The spin had a designated balance-check-routine it did at the begining of every spin. Nothing wrong till know. But after a certain point the washer just did not care, because after this routine, all out-off-balance-sensors were deactivated because they thought, once the load is balanced, it is balanced and done with that. After that point, it is glued to the tub and cant move anyhow anymore.
But wrong. Most of the loads on the YT-videos contained water-proof items or really heavy, filled items, sometimes the filling was free to move even in side of this peace of clothing.
Now imagine, you have a soaked, washed and rinsed matress cover, filled with some soaky sinthetic and heavy cotton arround it. Because it is old/cheap/ washed wrong, the filling is not longer in its place fixed. So during the wash, it could move inside of the case. Somehow, during the last spin, they seperated into 2 halfs of the tub:
On one side, there is all the heavy cotton case and stuff
On the other, the is that as it self fluffy and easy synthetic, but because it is soaked, it is just as heavy as the other side of the tub with the cotton.
Washer does it routine, wash is balanced, and start spinning.
Now, the cotton is somehow holding back the water a bit. During speed up, the water stays in the filling for some time. At acertain speed (lets say 500-800rpm), the "proofing" can't stand anymore and all the water out of the filling gets out in one go.
But as things happend, now the balance in the tub is changed:
On one side, there is still the heavy cotton,
On the other side, there is the easy, no longer soaked syntehtic.
A perfect out off balance situation.
BUT WAIT! How can the washer sense this? The sensors are all off...
QED the washer just spins as it had no out of balance sensor at all. And with such big tubs and a non-quality suspension, this has to cause any kind of damage.
Same could be imagined with waterproof jackets which can't resist the presure anymore, best conditions if you add a filling as parameter...
