Not for nothing, but I agree with everything Obama said in that video. Classic biblical bullshit and he called it....and there ain't nothing wrong with that. Now, it would be interesting to see the full video, including the parts that had been edited, since, like statistics, it's very easy to bend and twist anyone's words with a little help from video editing software and that video has been cut and pasted together at some point before it got here....just look at the stops and starts throughout.

It doesn't matter what the hell your political affiliation is, but I have a big problem with groups and organizations bending and twisting what others say for their own purposes. Oh, I forgot, that's politics!

Bottom line: do your own research, find out where your candidates really stand, not what others tell you, and do your own critical thinking. Then make your own pick, not the candidate your pastor, or mother, or best friend's gay hairdresser tells you is this country's salvation. Don't judge people by their families (Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton?), and don't judge people by their religion either.

Mark, you're a good guy and I truly like you, but you only started this thread because Obama pissed on the bible....and good for him for doing it. Parts of that book are still loaded with hatred, bigotry, evil and violence, and that's just not my idea of a Christianity and it never will be.

God bless and love us all!

Speaking of bending and twisting...

Does anyone know that Obama is going to be a guest on the Bill O'Reilly Show of Faux News??? I heard it on NPR today. This Thursday night. I do not have cable, but I be at the gym, and will be able to see it on the monitors there.

I heard that today too - on Fux News while in line at the store today. Will have to record that!

Caribou Barbie gives her "acceptance" speech in a few minutes - can't wait to see that.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=""></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Yeah, well....

"Caribou Barbie" just hit a home run in her acceptance speech. Even the pundits at the Obama News Network, (MSNBC) have acknowledged this.

Obama supporters better take notice. I see Palin appealing to Mid America and independents. and...most importantly WOMEN!

After all, given the track record of Democrats the last 2 election cycles, they have perfected escaping victory to the jaws of defeat.

I am not the type of person to sit and judge a someone - so tonight I'll keep to my word. I wanted to watch her speech, and walked into a room with the broadcast rolling around 9:35. I decided that by 9:40 it felt more like a Rosanne re-run than anything, and walked away.

Instead of the family talk and media blitzing, a buddy recently did some research on how she has stood on certain issues over the last decade. Let's take a look.

Careful, Shane, your Kool-Aid cup is getting empty. This is a pandering politician, at a convention of panderers, same as all of them. Keep a perspective on the TRUTH - recent but not forgotten history shows this has been a difficult concept for the GOP but if John McCain is truly "going to bring change to Washington" (for once - finally?) they should start now.

Caribou Barbie raised taxes on Alaska citizens, supported the pork-barrel spending projects for her town and state including the "Bridge to Nowhere" before she opposed it. She called for an investigation in her own ethics queries by a panel of investigators that SHE appointed. Drip, drip, drip goes her public vetting and nobody is buying the McCain campaign's strategy of branding those who question and seek information "sexist". She's out on the public stage and appears strong enough to be picked at just like everyone else. Time will tell if she can withstand it.

What'cha watching the "Obama News Network" for? I knew you were a closet Obama supporter!! It's OK, you can come back into the light ;-) I'll even send you a yard-sign!

SARAH PALLIN.....YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am proudly backing John McCain and Sarah Pallin in this upcoming election in November. If Hillary were the nominee I would have voted for her in a heartbeat. But, she isn't and Mr.Obama chose not make her his running mate. I am not sold on Obama and all of his rhetoric. Sarah Pallin would bring a down to earth person to Washington and she is a proven maverick herself.

Just my 2 cents

Stephen

Sarah Boys face it,,,,,,,,,,,,

You are a sucker for a gal with a crown. Not to worry, if Obama wins you probably can win beauty pageants too. I am just yanking your chain, far be it for me to be left out of all of this fun. Let's practice some vintage manners and be glad we have reached a point in history when a black man is running against a candidate with a female Vice President as a running mate. Concentrate on how are we have come. I for one (still very young by the way, despite Greg Nunn's constant reminders of me with long hair) never thought I would have seen the day.

I don't think Pallin will appeal to the majority of women voters at all...she's way too attractive, and women tend to be far too jealous of other attractive women. And women, especially mothers, more so than men, will not empathize with the pregnant teenage daughter thing. They'll look at her and say that she should be home raising her five children, not running for VP. Men may be more forgiving in her case because she is a very attractive woman, a fact I'm sure played a role in McCain's selection process (let's face it, men are pigs, republican or democrat alike!) We all probably know some McCain supporters who have switched sides once he announced his VP choice. I'd bet they were women who felt his choice was condescending towards women, designed only to secure the female vote that would have otherwise gone to Hillary Clinton but has now by default gone to Obama. I know that I know a few. It often amazes me how some judge one's qualifications for a job, but such is human nature I guess.

Andrew,

Let's think outside the box for a minute okay. First of all, Ms. Pallin will appeal to many women voters in MIDDLE AMERICA! She is a mother, wife, politician, a proven winner, she is not AFRAID to take on big corporations and challenge the some of the corruptions that were going on in Alaska politics. Secondly, she is REAL! She tells you what she thinks, she is proud of who she is and where she comes from. Many women in states like Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania will be able to relate to her because they will feel like they have something in common with her. Now, the election is not until November and we will all see as a nation as to how this country determines our future. I will echo what Don said about our current choices in this election. This is the first time in history that we have a black man and a woman to be on major party tickets. This is a time to think about how far we have come.

I thought Sarah's speech was pretty hokey. Mayberry meets Madame DeFarge. She seems to me like the eptiome of every man's bitchy ex-girlfriend. At least it will be easy for Biden to disassemble that mess.

It would be nice to see an unscripted Sarah. But they seem to be keeping her under wraps, and accusing anyone who questions her record of being sexist. Typical GOP.

Palin's extremist stands (e.g. on abortion, she wants it illegal, even in cases of rape and incest) have mysteriously disappeared from her Wiki page.

Simply outrageous, but also expected. The VRWC is powerful indeed.

Steve - you can buy her bullshit all you want...her views are too extreme and she wreaks of "religious right", and that is NOT what John McCain is all about at all. We've all had enough of the RR with this asshole we have in office now. McCain picked her because she appeals to the religious right, and he does not with his own views, and he needs that to insure a win. She does nothing for me, and frankly, she's full of shit. Now assuming McCain is elected, she may not even play a big role in his administration, which may or may not be his intention. It just surprised me that he would rely on the eye candy to get elected. She is not a "fit" for John McCain's own views in many cases at all, which is not to say his methodology is wrong, just questionable given his own strong views. Can she add anything to his administration? Maybe. Maybe not. Personally, I like John McCain and respect his public service record, something Senator Obama can't quite lay claim to. Yes she is attractive, and that does not hurt, and probably quite intelligent. But like most politicians, she will distort or even ignore her own views to tow whatever party line she needs to tow to get into office, and then spend 4 years trying to cram those views down the public's throats. We've all had enough of that with the asshole we have in office right now. I would have far more respect for anyone who steps up and truthfully says, hey, this is what I'm all about, take me or leave me. Right now she is a pandering politician and nothing more.

Every politician these days has baggage, she's no exception. It's not necessarily fair to judge her on that (depending on exactly what that baggage is), or the fact that her teenage daughter is knocked up. Sorry, but the kids should be off limits, they did not ask for the notariety, and despite the spotlights, they are still kids, just like we all were at one time. The way Chelsea Clinton was treated was appalling, and I hope that her own kids aren't going to be treated the same way.

I said this 8 years ago about George Bush, and all my friends will remember me saying this. Show me what business qualifications any candidate has that shows they can effectively run a country. Remember, this is a business folks. Show me a sound fiscal policy, a foreign policy, a domestic policy. Let's lool at George Bush's experience bankrupting companies, like he's doing to this country. So, that "experience" got him elected President of the greatest country in the world??? So, if McCain should drop dead 6 momths into his term, what qualifications does this woman have to do this job? Mayor of a small town? Governor of Alaska for 2 years? The jury is still out on her performance record. She's got extremely limited experience....just like folks say about Obama. If we look at the two tickets, it would seem the more ideal pairing would be McCain-Biden! Now that would be funny!!
